What is the most simple yet effective Torn and Restored? What I mean, is like the one that you can do it anywhere, anytime, with minimum preparation. No carrying torch or something bulky like that. Just perform it whenever asked.

Probably ReinCARDnation, but that has only been released for a while, then was immediatly taken back. Use the search part on the Café, and you will get loads of information on it. ReinCARDnation only uses one card.

Well my answer would have been Torched and Restored, since it meets your criteria, but you seem to be against the using the lighter. That being the case, I would still recommend torched. I would just say that you have to put your thinking cap on and come up with a reason/story/patter/justification for the card pieces restoring in a flash. IMHO, your mileage may vary....

I agree with Kaliix that Torched and Restored is the best one fitting your criteria of simple and effective. You don't need to use a lighter to "fuse" the pieces back together. You could use anything you have in your pocket -- the instructions suggest a glue-stick, but I've used a "magic" pen and even licked my forefinger and used spit.

Thanks for that link Chris. Looking forward to gettings the DVD when I get back from Vacation. I have read about the Angel Case, but like a lot of Harris' stuff. It reads well, but when you see him do it, it is awesome.
Good idea for the T&R effect using the case. RevJohn |

A great simple t&r is the signed torn and restored post it note. If you do mentalism and carry around a post it pad anyway, this is a great little magical aside. The spec can sign the post it themselves, too. Not really dealing with cards, but.... oh well. (I found this in an Osterlind volume, though it has been used by many others before him. PM me later on and I'll look through the tapes).

I would consider John Archers version on his DVD Educating Archer as another example of a simple T & R.

Paul Harris' Ultimate Rip Off. Excellent T&R. One card. No set up.

Check out Geoff Williams' version on his video dvd set...easy and good, as are the other effects on the set.... ..

For a great T&R routine, check out David Williamson's Torn and Restored Transposition from his book Williamson's Wonders or on one of the 'Sleight of Dave' DVDs.
It extends the T&R premise and is a wonderful piece of entertainment. AW |

Kenton Knepper has a couple of clever impromptu versions that I've only seen on his video "Klose-Up and Unpublished." These may also be in print, but I'm not aware of an alternate source.

Daniel Garcia's TORN has never failed me...all you need is a deck of cards and a marker, nothing else. Well, besides practice, that is.

Another vote for Torn. As a stand alone, straight T&R card, Garcia's method is probably the cleanest there is.

Even though I love it, I don't do "Torn" because I find it a bit angly. I developed my own piece by piece T&R which could be done almost surrounded (well, they can't be directly behind you) but it's ideal for restaurant work. And it's super easy as well.
