I opted to post this here rather on the DVD section for the simple reason that I wanted to talk about the Purse. I can't say anything but good things about the DVD but there are reviews in the Café already.

I want to talk about the purse. I must say that the good doctor really found a wonderful utility item in this purse. On a physical note, the Rattle Purse is probably one of the most elegant coin purses I have ever owned. It has a quality to it that makes it quite manly. Strange but true! There are just some purses that make men look funny. It is compact and can carry half Dollars and Dollar sized coins. The great thing about it is that The Rubinstein Ultimate Rattle Purse is one that you will want to use as your main purse. The bonus is the GIMMICK. It is so well made, it not only gives you the right sound, but the right look and feel as well. You just get a 3 dimensional sense that a coin or coins are really inside the purse. The lining is great. I see no coins getting unwanted tarnish ( some like it , some don't ). With the companion DVD , you should be set to come up with great stuff. The good doctor explained imprtant move to help make the purse more deceptive. Mike Gallo taught 2 wonder full effects.

Imaging combining the Rattle Purse and a coin Rattler? The possibilities are just endless.

This has got to be one of the best purchases I made since my Dean Dill's Soft Morgan shell set.

I believe this R.U.R.P should open many doors in coin magic!

I gotta say I like this quite a bit, as well. A true utility device that you'll see popping up in lots of routines, because it solves problems, and does so practically and reliably.

To those of you who have this, remember that the DVD only scratches the surface. There are other stealthy qualities to the purse that have nothing to do with sound. It allows a great purse switch, steal, or vanish, for instance, and consider using it with the Trabucco holdout. And that's just the beginning.

That's absolutely tru Curtis. The Trabucco hold out! I guess that is enough clue as to the other qualites this purse has.

Are they available without the pips that blanket the design?
Just plain black would be nice (I know, you can't please everyone...lol)

Perhaps the good doctor could prescribe something. I usually am a solid black kinda guy, but this design kinda grows on me.

I originally had them in three colors, but now am selling them only in black. The design on the purse is the trademark of the leathermaker I use, so that's characteristic of all the purses I sell. However, I do sell a regular black purse made of a very thick leather for everyday use. The design did not print well on this leather, so with use it will wear off, leaving a nice worn solid black look. The rattle purse is made of a finer leather, as are the duplicates that are only available in black through me.
Curtis was one of the first guys who played with the prototype I sent out to a few select coin guys. He had a great routine and some additional ideas, but I never got the chance to learn it in time to put it on the DVD.
By the way, the purse can be used as a chop cup as well, with the addition of a magnetic coin. For those of you who have the Coins Across DVD, using the purse for the routine Long Term Short Term will enhance the ending! Thanks for reading, enjoy!

Guys, I was given a set of the rattle purses, but the guy that gave them to me didn't have the instructions. They don't seem to rattle too well, so I was wondering if there was a way to lock/unlock the rattle feature. Can anyone help?

Was it an Authentic Rubinstein Rattle Purse? I thing the direction you shake it makes the difference. Of course I am coming from the cold as I have not seen the one you own. An up and down shake does it all the time as oppose to shaking it back and forth.

As to unlocking the rattle, I think showing it empty should be enough.

Would it be possible to put a magnetic coin in it to begin with, or a magnetic disc or something. This way we could all enjoy it with other effects as well outside the coin arena.

Another question... are the black purses the same style and size (the thicker one you mentioned) as the rattle purse. I plan to keep all my sets in those beauties.

I hope to see more routines from you and others soon. Please keep me in mind when something new comes up.

I wrote a PM to Brandon explaining how to change the intensity of the tone (it is described on the DVD, and is a feature of the purse). The regular purses are all the same size and shape, but the ones with thicker leather do not match the rattle purse - these are made of a very fine leather (like a fancy wallet), and should not be carried in a tight pocket like a jeans pocket, where it will wear (like a fine leather wallet in your back pocket). I designed the ones with heavier leather so that they camn be carried around in my jeans pocket and still have a nice long life. The finer purses, both rattle and duplicate, will last the longest if carried around in a looser pocket (jacket pocket), so there will be less friction on the leather.

Rannie, the gimmick in the purse allows you to use a magnetic coin.It is just a bonus feature of the purse. I found that it was best to do it this way, rather than put something magnetic into the purse. You have a ton of possibilities should you decide to use this feature, and I put one routine on the DVD to give you an example of what you can do with it.

Everything is just fantastic Marion. I'm on a magical roll now and it feels great. My Dec. sched is fully packed but the Tavern sessions get better and better, bigger and bigger. Its 5:30 am in Manila now and I just finished sessioning with the Manila Close up guys. Now every single close up worker wants one of these wonderful purses.

I have fallen in love with the rattle purse. The possibilities are just endless. Although this is a coin thread, allow me to mention that this utility device is not limited to coins alone. It has been a little over a day since I got my purse, but I can't seem to part with it. Re the DVD... I enjoyed it. I love the bonus feature.

Lately I have "created" a routine with Schoolcrafts fine Gravity Flipper Coin combined with The Rattle Purse by Dr. Rubinstein. Looks amazing my new "baby".

Good to see that Bill has re-located this thread and referenced it in the rattle gimmick thread. I just received a PM regarding how it rattles. It rattles only when you shake it, there are no switches or electronic devices. It can carry your coins, and is always ready to go when you need it.
