Hello Everyone,
I am looking for this effect (not sure if this is the correct name of the effect) and yet I cannot seem to find it anywhere. You poke a whole in the middle of the paper and pull out a silk. I believe I read it somewhere in Tarbell but I can't find the darn effect. If anyone can point me to the correct source it would be greatly oblige!!
Cheers Chris

Additional thought> in the early 1960's U.F. Grant sold a Don Tanner (I think) self-contained gimmick that enabled you to perform the standard silks from newspaper routine, remove the silks, crumple the paper and then pour liquid from the crumpled paper!

Jade does an excellent version of this. I have the Rice Encylcopedia and can't remember if it is the same way Jade does hers. I know hers isn't accomplished using a gimmick in the newspaper.

The Gimmick is available from Abbott's. I"ve been doing this routine for several years in my show and the gimmick works great. Easy to handle.

Good luck

If I were to do this I would think "double layer paper".

A great gimmick is also available from George Robinson's Viking Magic.

A cool version - which is not a silk but a Hat Coil is found on McBrides Stage Magic. He pokes a hole in the newspaper and puls out a whole bunch of paper. Not the same thing - but a really cool - play big pack smal effect.

Stephens Magic has this effect that uses a hand held gimmick. I have also seen methods where the paper is gimmicked, but I have not tried this.

I have done torn and restored newspaper leading to the silks from newspaper leading to silk fountain and then to jumbo silk. I liked bringing an old effect back to life.
