Any one have good recommendations for tricks that can be done auditably only i.e. over the radio or phone. I believe Banechek has one.

That one in Blaine's book can. You have someone select any card and count it's value on top of it. Then they begin turning over the cards one by one and reading them aloud. You say that you will try to figure out which is theirs only by their intonation. SIMPLE trick, but hey, it works on laymen.
On the other hand, you have different fingers.

You might want to search the Genii-Forum since there was once a long list provided in a posting.

Ted Lesley's "Svengali on the Phone Lines", a version of Milt Kort's effect is great. I also have a version of Ted Annemman's great publicity effect, his version of the Wizard card effect that has played very strong in the past. (It is in my book).

Great reference list, Martin!

Lewis Jones has a booklet devoted to this subject called Person To Person which has simply the most diabolical phone routines I know.

Geez Martin! I had no idea there were that many! I remember reading an effect where someone names a card and you call a friend that you refer to as "The Wizard." As soon as your friend picks up the phone he starts naming the suits. When he names the selected suit you say "Hello." Then your friend starts going through the values. When he hits the value you say "Wizard?" and your friend knows the card. You then hand the phone to the spectator and the wizard says "Your card is the 5 of clubs" or whatever the selected card is.

Is that on your list Martin and if it is, what's the name of it? I'm guessing it's been around a long time.

There are three tricks in my list corresponding to the description you gave:
- Bill McCaffrey's "Calling Ms. Wizard", in More-Self Working Card Tricks, p. 34;
- "The Wizard" in Scarne on Card Tricks, p. 50.
- Frank Garcia's "The Mentalist", in Magic with Cards, p. 87.

I didn't have the chance to read this booklet by Lewis Jones. But I'm sure you agrre with me that Lewis came up with very good ideas in all of his books.

Thanx for the extensive 'partial' list, was quite helpful.

I recently watched DC's 'Fires Of Passion' special and he did an interactive card trick, where he identifies your card whilst you're at home. When I was a layman, it fooled me badly, but now I'm half way cracking it and I know it'll fool people...especially over the phone or in a chat Smile

Wow Martin, great list! Thanks a lot for all the resources! I am starting to look at performing magic for the blind, and so I will be looking into these books. Hopefully many of the tricks will apply to that use.
Thanks
