I forget where I read it, but in some magic book somewhere I read that a really good magician could use a TT that was painted bright red and the spectators would never notice it.

A guy I work with purchased a TT at a local hobby/prank store. He asked for my advice on using it, so I showed him how to vanish a silk with out exposure.
The next week, I produced a beetle from my empty hands and he wanted to know how it was done. |

Duane Laflin a few years back used a RED TT and fooled every magician in the audience. He is very talented with the TT but he proved no matter what color TT you used you can get away with it with proper presentation.

As much as I love my TT I don't use that for silk transformations anymore. a well rehearsed DT routine is a total killer for silk transformations its amazing how many magicians I've fooled because they have never heard of them and it makes many of the problems about laymen and TT's go away

I think it's funny. People just have no clue. My friend went through my drawers the other day and found my TT. He figured it out pretty quick at what it was for. Anyway, the next day, I borrowed a Canadian 5er from him and I switched it for a colorful blue paper. He had no clue.
The lesson... people just don't connect the two of them together. It's not too bad really. Fraser

Guys lay people just don't connect the dots. I wouldn't worry

I'm not sure laypeople can be generalized so readily.
I'm just a beginner, so my technique and presentation skills need work, obviously. But there are people among my spectators who 1) figure out many tricks out (I hate this guy, but when I do fool him, it's pretty sweet ), 2) are unimpressed because they've arrived at an incorrect conclusion, 3) are intellectually impressed, but not amazed, and 4) have a completely delighted, visceral reaction to my magic. I have no doubt that the #1 guy would figure out a TT in a second (if used by me). The rest would indeed not have a clue. ///ark |

You would think but they can. after you have more experience you will find how to deal with "#1". if they are figuring something out.... maybe its you not them. I'm not being mean or accusing. the deception is not in the method. its in the performance
