Greetings everyone!
I've been looking for a larger chop cup. One big enough for a baseball or apple. I tried ickle pickle by email and by phone for the last few days and no one answers. Penguin is out of stock. Anyone help me? Thanks! Wes |

The ickle pickle widemouth will do the trick.
I've also made leather ones that size for ren faire work. I think the ickle pickle cups look very nice. maybe http://www.rnt2.com has one.

Try Jake at RnT2: the Don Alan cup will take a baseball. Tim Star also does some big Chop cups.
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

The Don Alan cup will definitely take a baseball, but it was my impression that RNT2 is not making them anymore. If a check on their web site confirms this, I do know they come up for sale on the Café and EBAY from time to time. It is a great cup!

Steve Bender is hard to get hold of. He still performs and does a lot of conventions, etc. No telling where he is.

I use an Ickle Pickle Widemouth Chop and it handles model 1 Kong Balls, without the ball getting wedged. I wanted to produce large heavy balls that I could bounce off of the stage, with a loud "thud". The cup allows me to do that.

Just don't get the ball and the cup confused. Those cups don't bounce worth beans!

The Riser Tall is made for baseballs. Beautiful cup and a dream to work with as is his' Shorty as well. Best cups I have ever owned. Worth taking a look:

I agree 100% with MVMagic--I have a Riser Innocent Shorty that is really a terrific chop cup; one of the best (if not THE best) I have ever seen! It fits a tennis ball rather than a baseball, so perhaps the Riser Tall or Don Alan Chop Cup would work better for you. But that Riser Innocent Shorty is really something special. James Riser doesn't make many of these, but it is well worth the effort to buy one if possible.

Thanks for the kind words about my Riser Innocent Chop Cups guys.
For your enjoyment...Here is my tennis ball sized Riser Innocent Chop Cup next to a baseball sized Riser Innocent Chop Cup: http://www.jamesriser.com/Magic/Innocent......2331.jpg Three custom made Innocent Chop Cups: http://www.jamesriser.com/Magic/Innocent......2333.jpg And the custom baseball sized Riser Innocent Chop Cup only: http://www.jamesriser.com/Magic/Innocent......2332.jpg You will not see many baseball sized chop cups as the market for them is very small. It costs too much to make the tooling to offer a product to say only 15 people. Anyway, I thought you'd like to see that such items can be made and are being made ... but at great expense. I might add that the taper on the Riser Baseball Sized Innocent Chop Cup is such that it grips the baseball and acts like a chop cup with an ordinary regulation baseball. The ball can be loaded and the cup freely handled until the ball is released. Jim |

I own 2 riser chop cups...I bought the one and when I got it I thought that I might never be able to get another so I bought another right away. Is sits in the other room....These chop cups are just beautiful. I do magic for a living in very tough environments and I will tell you these will take a beating and still look great!
Jim, how big are the innocent baseball cups inside...Are they similar to the shorties? |

Ted;
They are like a Shorty with no mouth bead. The baseball has plenty of room. It sits up in the cup with around an inch of cup left over (extending below the wedged ball) to help with angles. These cups are even more scarce than the tennis ball sized Riser Innocents! I do about two of the baseball sized cups per year and only for serious workers. I do not want them in the hands of bunglers. Since the baseballs are so large, it takes a better performer to use a cup this size and get away with it. BTW - Here is another type of my baseball sized chop cups: http://www.jamesriser.com/Magic/S&SChop2269.jpg The baseball does not wedge in the top of this style of cup. This a version of my Stage and Street Chop Cup sets (no longer made...but I kept one for myself). Jim |

Here's another endorsement of the Riser Chop Cup. I use an Ultimate Shorty (tennis ball), and it's just perfect.

I have a Riser copper Ultimate Shorty (with lip)....NOT Innocent (lip-less)model). Can somebody who has used both tell me the advantage(s) the Innocent has over the original Shorty?

There really aren't any as far as the handling goes. As far as the appearance is concerned, the edge of the Innocent cups eliminates the possibility that may be in the minds of some spectators that there may be more to the cup than meets the eye.

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but are the baseball sized Riser Innocent Chop Cup still available anywhere? I'm looking for a chop cup that will wedge a baseball.
Thanks for your help! Kevin |
