MY vote for best new kid's trick for 2006 would go to Wolf Magic's Happy Hyena. It's a great logical version of Forgetful Freddie, but with a great premise, great audio and built in laughter and applause-getter.
By the way, "I know my vote but I want to hear others. Cam" Now that you've heard so many replies, we'd be interested in YOUR choice too. |

Well the only two that I got form the list so far are Off the Meter and Bigger wands. they are both great props but my vote would go for Bigger Wands Hands down.
It seems to me there are lots of other new tricks like Ridiculous ravioli, isn’t that new? Or I heard something about a top hat change bag that is new and I know Barry Mitchell has some new stuff- I have been looking at vacuum man! I think we should ad to the list or is Bigger Wands really the best new kids trick? |

The Top Hat Change Bag from Joso Bozo does deserve a second look. It has a big chamber, and lots of possibilities.
I have the Meter and that is where I spent my first choice.

Yes- it is more important to be entertaining and to keep the children's attention but this does not need to be at the expense of being holy crap, kick in the guts amazing! Is a rubber chicken a good magic trick? Is a nice set of juggling clubs? Is my fancy new wide screen TV? No. because, whilst entertaining, they are not amazing. |

Perhaps the question then should be - What was the best PROP released in 2006?

I know what I have bought in 2006, but I'm not completely sure what was released in 2006. For instance, one of the best tricks I purchased in 2006 was Super Chicken - but I think it has been on the market for quite some time.
If anyone could actually compile a list of effects released in 2006, that might help. Kent

HOW can any magican answer this question?? "Best new kids trick of 2006"...
EVERY trick is the best trick because if you are a god children entertainer you can get any trick to be the best al it take is a god performace of the trick. Its not the trick it´s the performance that make it god. |

I agree with trixy, although I've gotten the best results with Bigger wands, and Off the meter.

I have found that a lot of the old tricks for kids are the best. I have used the foam sheets from Micheals to make certain ones more appealing and fun. I am not saying there are not any good new tricks out there, it just seems to me that they are old tricks with new faces.

I agree with Chris, many of the classics are classics for a reason.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing when new hyped tricks come out and 90 out of 100 magicians say "Me, too!"? Not to say there aren't good new tricks, but do you really want to be doing the same tricks the same way as everyone else, just because everyone else does it? On one hand, lots of the more common tricks, props and routines do have a great track record in terms of audience response; but on the other hand, do you want to be doing an identical show to everyone else? |

Blow Yur Stack with a blindfold works fantastically well. It came out earlier than 2006, but is destined to be a classic.

I love Run Wolf Run and get a very good response from it...I also would like to vote for not Bigger Wands but the Biggest Wand which is 12 feet long! Bring this baby out from backstage and you get just an amazing response.

Bigger Wands is so much fun because of the audience participation. For me it is the most entertaining and that's what magic is all about.

One question guys about the big wands, a lot of you seem to do stage shows with these, but for a normal kids show, how do you produce them?? Do you bring them straight out of the bag?? Are they hard and or fast to re-pack afterwards??
Thanks, Andy |

The first 4 or 5 will fit in a Lefler style table and the last three and the Biggest Wand needs a bigger space...takes me about 2 minutes to assemble the Bigger Wands set and inflate the Biggest Wand using a Coleman Quick Pump (thanks to fellow Café member Robert Wong for the tip on this baby!) There website says: "It comes with 7 foam wands that kids love, ranging in size from 6" to more than 7 feet." If its foam why do you inflate them?
