Hi there,
just curious, has anyone ever juggled cups&balls like shaker cups? |

I try to juggle a bit during my cups and balls routine. Mostly in the beginning when I introduce the cups. I am still workin on a routine though, so I cant say that I am an expert. I bought a set of Cellinin cups - and they are wonderful to use.

My friend Todd has been doing an act of shaker cups/cups and balls for years as a street performer (It's loud and has magic. A win win for a street act!).

Oh yeah. The tough part is focusing on one or the other...the plot of the magic or the visual of the cup tossing/stacking. And the noise is wonderful.
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

I use the shaker cups for my cups and balls.
You do need to get the right ones, for it to work. It depends on what exactly you want to do when you "juggle" them. I only do a simple flourish at the beginning.

Well, I started doing a few simple tosses with my aluminum cups, then I noticed they started getting ugly ding marks.
do shaker cups (like from Dube) work for c&b? do they have attic space? is there anything I should know about them before I spend $20 each? would nicer C&B cups work? are there steel cups? appreciate the help everyone. UFO, I actualy like mixing the magic and juggling, I don't believe there has to be a division (unless I'm giving a reading or seance). there are other performers who successfully mix the two, like Charlie Frye. |

Dube' cups have NO attic space.
All shaker cups will be the same (no space on top) they work on the principle of the space on the sides. If you were going to do this I recommend that all your moves be all palming and misdirection based rather than cup work. I will think some more on this!!! Larry |

I used to do a cup and balls type of effect with ordinary cocktail tins when I worked as a bartender.
Used to use 3 tins and cherries instead of balls. I managed to work in some nice tin flair in to the routine. I've found that most C&B sets are too small for this type of thing. But I guess if you use some of the big street sets that are available then maybe you could do these kinds of moves. Good luck, Ros

Hey Everyone,
For a while I was working with my copper C&B cups and doing some trap juggling with a 2.5inch ball. I figured out how to get a normal C&B ball in between the cup and the juggling ball as I was juggling. The audience never saw the smaller ball coming. I've since moved away from that concept to more a rolling style on the table-top. Sort of based on Contact Juggling, I use those sexy curves of the C&B cups and get them to summer-sault across the table (loading and stealing in the process). Just my thoughts Dan |

Personally it looks great but make sure you find cups that sound nice. A whole bunch of clunking and clanking can be annoying.

Check out Aldo Columbini's cups and balls. He does some pretty acrobatic moves.
