The idea has come up in a number of threads and I've run accross the solution.
Is there a bag to hang from the belt that you can ditch to? Much less than a gibercce (sp)? Yes!! the bag that is already made for the task is called a Chalk Bag. Climbers hang them on their belts to keep a chalk ball handy for their hands. The bags are to be found at REI and I'm sure any other outdoorsy type sports places. The beauty of these is that they have a ring in the neck to keep them open so you can ditch anything to them just by passing your hand near. They also come in a variety of fabrics and are built to go up and down mountains - substantial. I have a nice royal red one. |

It's called a servante, not a servant. They also make them that fit into a cummerbund. Some of the old gibecieres had rings in the mouth to keep them closed. I had a friend make me some like that for the renaissance festival shows.

Not re-introducing the lap or the giberce, just found this to be a ready made version of the same in nice colors. Again, the (rubber)ring here keeps the bag open so the hand can go in and out without wobbles, or drop into it in passing. It's like a black art well without a table.
You say servante, I say servante (sp) |

I quite liked the idea of a strolling servant. Golfers call them 'caddies' don't they?
I heard that Magic Makers do a cheap knock-off version, but those servants have cross eyes and a limp. Just kidding
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler
