I hate it when a potentially good web site messes up right at the start. This is often the case, though. Today, I had three spam e-mails from illusiontrader.com asking for me to check out their web site. I have never done business with these people. Nor have I ever done business with their parent company.

It's not a good way to start.

Not the first time it's happened. I got three also.

They probably won't be doing business too long.

How did they get your email addy? I got one of these also... wonder if they were able to get our info through this magic Café??!!

Okay-

I'm nothing to do with this site, although what I'm about to say might make it sound like I am.

How on earth are they supposed to get the word out about their new site? And also- I get so many spam e-mails a day about Viagra and other products I have no need for, its actually quite nice to get a message about a new magic website.

And exactly how hard is it to press delete? How much of your time and effort did does it take to press delete compared with the time it takes to start a thread on the Café?

Well for starters...

Advertising.

They can buy an ad in MAGIC Magazine or the Linking Ring. Heck they can even advertise right here at the Café.

That's a good start.

PS: It's not that we get a message from them. It's that they spam your box with the same message three or four times in a day.

They most likely paid for these spams thinking they were "advertising". Many times, spammers market their emails as "targeted opt-in" when indeed they are not. Personally, I agree with Edd.

Personally, I never go to any site that spams...

How long can it take to push "delete" you say? Let me put it to you this way: Today: 78 spams
Yesterday: 52 spams
Average spam received per day: 61...

And I have to look at any (or all...) that may even perhaps look like if they come from customers... It is a waste of time, extremely annoying, frustrating, etc...
Do I look like if I hate spammers yet?

They should do like any other good business: advertise!!! Buy banner ads!!! Get listed on search engines!!! Need I go on?

Sorry for the rant... Had to get it off my chest...

I get more than 400 e-mails a day. When I get one about a new magic site, I usually open it. When I get three from a new magic site, I become leery. When I visit a new magic site and it isn't even functional, I forget about them.

I wanted to comment back regarding the postings of illusiontrader.com

Currently I am in the process of having that domain name and management to my name. This means I am becoming the new owner of it. The site is currently down since changes are being made.

I don't know anything about any e-mails that anyone has received regarding illusiontrader.com
As just mentioned I am just taking over that domain name and I can assure you that I haven't sent NO e-mails to anyone. I apologize for any inconvenience.

I will be letting everyone know once the site is officially back online and fully operational as well the e-mail address that you should be receiving e-mails from. Any e-mails that you have received or might received are not coming from me, I can assure you of that. Perhaps someone has created some fake e-mail and purchased some e-mailing list to do this. I get LOTS of spam emails from companies of all kinds and have no idea where they got my e-mail address from. I just delete them like everything else since even though you block them or report them as spam that doesn't works since they seem to be able to send the same e-mails again and again using a different e-mail address. I am sure this happens to everyone this days.

Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience and just wanted to make things clear since I am working in creating a new illusiontrader.com for better and as said it is now under new ownership and management. I will post on here once is fully operational.

It is been a long time since I haven't log on here on the Magic Café forums. I just did and decided to search around and found all this old postings about things that I am involved in.

Wanted to let you know that the illusiontrader.com web site that I was trying to get started which I got from someone wasn't successfully. It wasn't my doing but the person that I got it from. Somehow it wasn't transfered to me fully so at the end the web site was not really mine. At this time I don't know the status of the web site since has been months that I haven't deal with this matter and as of now is all closed and done.

Thanks again and I just wanted to follow up on that.

Now it looks like that person let it expire and one of those mass domain squatters purchased it.
