Hello,

Can anyone recommend a sticky substance to put on my palm to help palm a card? My hands are too ruff and I can't get hold of the card. I have filed down my palm and used moisturizer to help, but no luck. Is there something I can use that won't be detectable on the cards??

Thanks in advance,

Marc

I posted a similar question, as I have a lot of trouble with dry hands this time of year, and got a lot of great suggestions, take a peek here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......=3&7

Sortquik. It comes in tubes and is used for counting money.

My problem is that I need something slightly sticky so the card will stick to the bottom part of my palm. I can't seem to hold it so I can palm the card naturally. I just tried out a temporary solution. I bought some washable glue stick gel by Elmers and it works great. The only problem is you have to use just enough to hold the card but not too much to make the card sticky. Also, it wears off quickly.

Does anyone else know of a "sticky" substance that won't leave a residue on the card?

I will be trying some of the stuff listed in the other forum referenced above, but most look like lotions for dry skin.

I have never had a problem with palming, probably a result of having large hands. Rather than putting solutions on your hands, I would recommend changing the position of the card in your hand. Move the card so that it aligns with the first joints of the fingers, and with a little pressure the card can be bent into the palm. I find that my middle finger does most of the holding of the card. This looks very natural with a little practice, and there is a chance of the card flashing between the fingers, but that chance always exists.

Play with different positions of the card in your hands. Remember that if you start relying on solutions, you will have difficulty in impromptu situations, or when the solution wears off.

It may help to practice single card manipulations, as found on McBrides Art of Card Manipulations VOL 1. Even if you never perform them, they will help tremendously with the development of strength and muscle-memory on your fingers in controlling palmed cards.

Have patience, you will prevail.
