What is the dove tail shuffle? How about the russian shuffle?
Thanks |

It's a bit like a multiple shift except that the shift is executed after and during the course of an overhand shuffle. Check out Jean Hugards Card Manipulations for an explanation.

It is quite confusing i think
As Euan said, Hugard calls the "modern dovetail" shuffle what is now usually called the cardini multiple shift BUT Dovetail shuffle is also the old name for a riffle shuffle, like in Henry hay Amateur Magician handbook. |

I've just read about the dovetail shuffle in "Annemann's card magic" although it is not explained how to do it. Since I do not have the Jean Hugard's book, I've checked in "Now you see it, now you don't" but wasn't able to find it in there either.
Could someone please describe this technique to me? What I have gathered so far leads me to believe that it is a riffle shuffle done at a 45 degrees rather than at a 180 degrees angle where you use the long sides to riffle rather than the short sides. Am I correct? Richard
