Aside from the obvious need of making sure it's legal in one's area, anyone had any success with marketing via doorknob hangers?
Thanks, Tod

I don't recommend it. It's akin to someone putting unsolicited advertisements under your windshield wiper while you're in the mall. Most of these things wind up on the ground
Shotgun marketing is a waste of money. Use the money instead to focus more precisely on the market that you are going after. Lyndel |

I agree with Lyndel. Before you rush out and try a "shotgun" tactic, stop and ask yourself some strategic questions. For example:
What is my target market? Who makes the buying decision? How do they make the buying decision, what factors influence their decision? How can I reach the person who has the power to hire me? How much money do I have available to invest in marketing activities? How can I maximize my marketing budget to reach the most potential clients at the lowest cost? Door hangers in hotels may be effective for pizza delivery shops, but I think you will be wasting your time and money to use that strategy for marketing your show, even to the birthday party market. If that is your target market (I'm assuming you were not considering door hangers for the corporate meeting planner), it would be more efficient to hang a flyer and business card holder on the community bulletin board inside a supermarket or laundrymat, or to run a weekly classified ad in your local "parent pages." I don't even have a doornob - it's a lock only- where are you going to put it.
If you are going to do it- it's going to make your job take along time- it takes a while just letter box delivering without having to go into the house and past the guard dogs to put something on the door. |
