Which came first? Zorro or the movie, The Son of Monto Cristo?
Both men wore a cape, mask and fought with a sword. One went by the name Zorro the other Torch. I am sitting here watching The Son of Monto Cristo and it appears to be a spin off of Zorro. Ray |

The original "Son Of Monte Cristo" was released in 1940. It starred Louis Hayward and Joan Bennett.
"The Mark Of Zoro," originally titled, "The Californian" was the first Zoro movie ever released. It was also done in 1940 and starred Tyrone Power and Linda Darnell. I don't know what month in 1940 they were released, but it was probably close to each other. Times have not changed much. Studios still spy on each other and release movies that are similar to each other... P.S. Glad to hear you're watching man-ly movies with sword fights and action - and not sitting around watching chick flicks! Perhaps I'll talk to the board and try to get your "man card" back. Lyndel |
