I have a few card DVDs including Royal Road (both versions) and the lighting on them is so bad that it is annoying. Why can't the makers of these videos get the exposure (the film term, not the magic term) right? For example, in the Royal Road (Paul Wilson) the guys hands often glow so bright that it makes it hard to watch, and the cards are over exposed too.
I just don't get it. It's really not that hard (the photographer / videographer in me speaking) to get the lighting right. Anyone else find this annoying or am I just over sensitive because I deal with lighting and exposure so often? Jim |

I think it adds a touch of gonzo realism.
I for one vote NO on exposure. |

I never noticed the problem. I'll have to take another look.
Yes, that is my real name. Yes, I am a real person. No, you probably won't agree with me.

Depends on the video. Most I've seen are fine. Not outstanding but I can usually see everything I need to see.

Never noticed any such problems with the resources I have seen. Isn't the Paul Wilson Royal Road set produced by L&L? Nothing but the best quality from them, usually... Remember how important it is to have the audio explanation/advice, even more than the visual instruction. Too many people watching 'The System' with no verbal (written on-screen ala 'CoinOne' OR spoken in most other cases) instruction turning into apes of the person on the DVD. Performing monkeys, anybody?

I'm wondering how this is not very magical, and why it doesn't go in the reiviews, since it is a review of sorts. Oh well, life goes on.
Wonders never cease, I got a coin video "Modern Coin Magic" that (so far) is actually well exposed. It is from Magic Makers of all people. Just when they were getting a rep for being chincy... |
