I finally got around to organizing my coins in a nice box that my wife got me for Christmas. When all was said and done I couldn't find my Johnson Hopping Half set but I still had the instructions with my Johnson Copper/Silver/Brass. I couldn't ever locate the HH or the instructions for C/S/B. Is there anywhere I could go to get a copy of these instructions?
Thanks for the help, Gary |

I seem to remember that Johnson doesn't have a website, for some reason. But they do have an address if you want to write them, but I'm not finding it on a web search.
You could buy the L&L video on gaffed coins that includes the Doc Eason handling. |

Hmmm... The DVD sounds like a good alternative but I'm hoping I can track down something on paper. I wonder if Johnson would send one?

Gary,
THe Johnson CSB routine is pretty lame and requires a trip or two to your pocket - not very convincing. The best CSB routine I have seen is in John Bannon's book "Smoke and Mirrors." Paul Green's routine on his DVD "In the Trenches" is also very good. Both of these routines end clean and are simple to do. Good luck. Cheers, Tiki |

I agree. There's really no reason to hunt down the instructions. The routine is pretty run of the mill. The Bannon routine is good or, honestly, since you already have the gaffed coins, you can really just come up with your own routine. Check out some online videos of people doing it and use them for inspiration.

Buy Cody Fisher On Magic DVD, he has Real World CSB that ends clean and really practical. Really great DVD.

If you have a copy of Bobo's "New Modern Coin Magic" the routine by Conrad Haden called "The Silver and Two Copper Transposition" (p.442 in my copy) is a C/S/B routine, there are a couple of alternate versions given. the gimmick described is the same as C/S/B just made up with different coins.
L&L has a DVD out in their "World's Greatest Magic" series called "Gaffed Coins", it has handlings for C/S/B or S/2C (same thing) by David Roth, JC Wagner, Scotty York, Harry Allen and Doc Eason, great stuff.

Jackpot! I don't know how I missed "The Mystery on the Aztec-Orient Express" by John Bannon but it's terrific. Thanks for all the suggestions above.

I don't know how I forgot, guess I was half asleep, but Karl Hein's "International Frequent Flyer" is a nice "3-Fly" type routine with C/S/B. It's in his lecture notes, which he sells either printed or in a PDF file. He also has DVDs of his lecture out, so you can see his performance and explanation

I do two very cool C/S/B routines...
1. Dan Watkins C/S/B Assault On his DVD, Coin Man Walking 2. Reed McClintock's 3 with C/S/B In his booklet, Knuckle Busters vol. 2 They're two very different routines, but I think that between the two of them, they accurately capture the incredible stylistic range that this gaff set has to offer. And there's no pocket work...

I googled the International Frequent Flyer by Karl Hein and didn't come up with anything. Do you have a website for it?

Kaliix,
I just looked to see whether Karl included a web address or email on his lecture notes, and I don't see anything. Also, the company that published his Heinstein Shuffle DVD doesn't list his notes in their catalogue. Contact Denny Haney at dennymagic@aol.com, he has Karl's lecture available on 3 DVDs. International Frequent Flyer is on the second DVD. He also has the lecture notes on a CD/ROM in PDF format, and I think he has some printed out as well, but I bought the PDF at the lecture and printed my own. I know he has them, I was in the shop last night and saw some copies on display. Good luck! Don

I have performed J.C. Wagner's routine that goes to the pocket at least 2-3000 times over the years and it smokes watchers. The only thing needed when going to the pocket is a 'REASON' that makes sense to the watcher. The only reason that going to the pocket could disrupt the overall affect of the routine would be if the audience suspected the 'type' and 'manner' of the gaffed coins, but they are less likely psychologically to do so if you have the pocket as through off than if the magic happens only in your hand. I could also argue the opposite, which is to say that the gimmick itself is SO unconceivable by anyone not familiar with it that virtually all routines in the genre are pretty nifty. But, I have never found going to the pocket when supported by the right routining to be a negative. Best,
Brad Burt

I use the Porper set made from Casino chips. The little purse they come with switches out the gaffes, so there is no pocket work.

Going to the pocket is fine Brad Burt. I agree and it is easy to perform.
