This show premiered on the CBC (in Canada) this week. Anyone see it? If not, see the youtube links below.
Incidentally, one of its stars (Carlo Rota) is doing double duty as a co-star on 24 this season. http://www.cbc.ca/littlemosque/ http://youtube.com/watch?v=XtLh-fkOUE4 http://youtube.com/watch?v=jti2pJ77q8I

Only watched the first couple minutes, but I didn't like it. It has nothing to do with being anti muslin or anything, I just don't think it is good TV. Props to the producers for spreading diversity in TV land which is a good thing, but too bad they couldn't have gotten a better show out of it(at least imho).
Maybe its something that has to grow on you, but first couple min didn't impress....Maybe it was the overdone racism, or the intentionally weird portrayal of muslims or what, but didn't seem like good TV. Cept for the main no one seemed comfortable in the roles, most of the acting seemed pretty shoddy imho, specifically those trying to portray anti-muslim characters... |

Daegs, I do agree with some of what you say.
The first episode started out a little weak, in some ways. But I remember when I watched the first episode of Roseanne years back (because it was receiving so much pre-advance publicity) ... after the (imho) weak first episode I never watched it again for years, until I realised it was a huge hit and had grown into a pretty good show. Actually, the same is true for the first couple episodes of the original Seinfeld Chronicles. One thing to keep in mind is that many homegrown tv shows on Canadian networks have a different look and feel than your average American network tv show. Some of them are intentionally just not as polished, and are more like some British imports. A show that is similar to LMOTP is Corner Gas (in that both shows are set in small Canadian prairie towns), which runs on a competing Canadian network. Corner Gas is now a huge hit, not just in Canada, but in several international markets as well (it is licensed to broadcasters in 26 countries). http://www.cornergas.com/home/ I'm sure you can find some episodes of Corner Gas on-line, if you search Youtube. Certainly there are dozens of extended clips available. Here are some random short clips: http://youtube.com/watch?v=86ZDMKYwGBo http://youtube.com/watch?v=BUrZY9dLjWM http://youtube.com/watch?v=1HegIVOVP0o http://youtube.com/watch?v=sTTlFdg6S7o
