Gedeon Programmes, a leading French documentary film company in discoveryprograms, is currently producing a film collection entitled « The magical mistery tour » for the French TV the international market.

A major element of this collection is an innovative serie of films about magic.
The concept of the collection is to follow a French magician in his discovery of different Experiences of magic and through his encounters of course differents magicians throughout the world.

This collection is based on sharing experiences and meeting people. In that respect, through this documentary project, we would like to meet, differents magicians, visit magic school, clubs of magic, and specialist shops.

The first episod is dedicate to India.

The shooting date will be on april 2007.

We are preparing this documentary, and we need many infos about Indian Magic!

In our preparation we need to be in contact with different magicians and I have some questions for you:

do there is different practice of magic in the different state of India?
What are the best place/town to view indian magic?
Where we can see the indian rope trick and the green mango?
There is magic school in India or festival of magic?
where we can see the Jaadoo Walahs, the street magicians?

Of course, we are looking for and searching for indian magicians who would be ok to participate on this project.

I’m sorry for my bad english: it’s not very easy for me to speak fluent..

Thanks you very much if you can help us, and our project.

Matthieu Guenoux.

You'll find street magicians in the Kolkata and Rajasthan states of India.

There are lots of types of magic you'll find here - stage magic, and "Kaala jaadu" (black magic), closeup magicians, etc.

The Indian Rope Trick was done hundreds of years ago. No one has been able to do it again. There have been many explanations, but no one has been able to do it the way it was done originally (surrounded).

There was an advertisement on TV that a magician is starting a magic school... but I think they are still preparing the "syllabus".
Want jaadu?!

You might want to check out Penn and Tellers Magic and Mystery Tour video that came out a few years ago. Your description above reminded me a lot of the description for their show, although I havent seen it myself. They traveled to India, China, and Egypt to showcase different styles of magic and magicians. It may give you some inspiration but you wouldnt want them to be similar since the titles already sound a lot alike.
