Wooden cigars and cigarettes handmade by magician John Rogers!
Can someone review his stuff.
I have surfed to his web several times and his props seems very interesting.
Plus is there any great books/DVD about cigar magic?

Mats,

Nate Leipzig's 'Cigars From Purse' was published in "Dai Vernon's Tribute to Nate Leipzig".

John Carney's 'Just a Cigar' appears in his latest book "Secrets", a book which received a glowing review from Jamy Ian Swiss in the January 2003 issue of "Genii".

Chris Kenner's 'Into The Woods' was published in "Totally Out of Control".

Regards,

John

I use these cigarettes and a cigar in my street act. I have literally done 500 shows with these props under the worst of circumstances. They have held up beautifully, look fantastic, and are great for manipulation. I recommend these props highly!

Best,

Dan-

I concur with Mr. Hustle. I have yet to use my cigar set in an actual performance but the props are great. Extremely realistic and very well made. Even if you never perform with them they are a wonderful addition to anyones magic collection as they have that old time craftsmanship feel and look to them.

I saw his products at the Motor City Conference and they have to be the most realistic ones imaginable -- even up close. They have every little detail, right down to the fake saliva on the end of the cigar.

John has sold quite a number of these at the last two Columbus Magi-Fests. I witnessed people swarming him when he walks into the lobby to get their hands on them.

They are the most realistic looking fakes I have ever seen. They can stand up to the most scrutinizing spectator standing directly in front of you.

Chris Kenner has a great routine in his book, "Totally Out of Control."

Tom Mullica also put out a 3 volume series of Cigarette and Cigar magic teaching flourishes, sleights, and routines.

I recently had the opportunity to meet John and see his products first hand and up-close. (make that very close)

While it's an over-used term in this case, "extreamly realistic" doesn't do his creations justice. They are remarkable.

While I don't include these props in my own act, I would give John's creations the highest recommendation. (and besides that, he's a great guy to talk with)

I personally give a thumbs up to John's products. We have known John for several years now. When I first saw them at MagiFest, I was amazed at how real they looked.
Indy Ron, are you in Indianapolis? We are on the near east side.

Just received some of John's products: a couple of unlit cigarettes, a torn and restored piece, and Jaxson's Outsmokin' cigarette. John's work is fantastic and the wooden cigarettes are a joy to work with. As a plus, John provides friendly and quick service. I'm sure I'll be buying more of his stuff.

I have a matched pair of John’s lit cigars. I do use them to perform a couple of short routines.

I also pair one with my Paul Diamond smoke gimmick. I can appear to be smoking a cigar and put it into my shirt (pants, jacket, whatever) pocket while doing something else. Take it out again and puff a few times and put it away again. It makes a nice running gag in a bar venue.

I did get into a small tiff in a bar some time ago because of the realism of this wonderful little prop. I was showing the prop off to a friend and simply holding it as if I was going to smoke it. A young lady at the bar started complaining loudly about the stench of my cigar(?). She demanded the bartender order me to put it out, as it was really foul! The bartender came over and politely asked me to put my cigar out. Soooooooo I pretended to crush it out on my tongue and put it into my pants pocket. You can imagine the stunned silence of the patrons, especially the young lady. I ordered her a beer for having caused her any discomfort with my bad smelling cigar.

Later I showed the bartender the cigar. He howled with laughter and he bought me a beer! I was even for the night!

This is not a magic prop, this is art!

Buy John's products with NO reservations. I have "Outsmokin," 5 lit cigars, a lit cigarette, and a half cigarette (I suspect that John will be adding a Larry Davidson wing to his house). Harry said it best, it's art.

These cigars and cigarettes in all of their manifestations are simply the best. Consider the extra money for the rod or magnet loaded ones if you use a topit.

These are nothingless than a work of art. The detail goes right down to ash, teeth marks and moisture at the end.

As Tabman said, "Awesome."

The droopy cigarettes are a wonderful gag or the perfect finishing touch to a drunk character on stage.

What is the best way to keep the cigarettes free from scratches? If the cigarette gets scratched, can they be painted?
