Watch this whole YouTube segment,
he not only demonstrates "his" new thing,
he then totally exposes it!
(And, it's very close to some other things available!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNg2Bit_fiU

So, should this be on a public site?
Is his method "too close for comfort"?

Wow, it never stops, but always blows me away!
Magically,

Not much can be done about this. I guess he doesn't perform in public much. I'd really love to see someone with grubby paws like that come over to my table and perform whatever that one was where he converted the little pellet of crud to a wad of waste paper.

Nice manicure, too!

If you let the RIAA know that he is posting copyrighed music, they may pull the video. The best thing he did was to disable comments and reviews.

LOL I think he was popping a kernel of corn.
Actually I don't worry too much about his exposing, I think every layman has an idea that magicians all have lazy tongs up their sleeves and all kinds of mechanical devices strapped all over them, from old comedy shows on TV

I don't want it removed, I like it. I want one a lot. Much better than any gimmick on the market now.

Not quite. There's a similar effect, I am not going to name (due to kinda exposure), that is much better, on the market right now.

Balukmagic, not that much better. This guy probably made this for $20 bucks tops. And the other is for $250. Not worth it in my opinion. His does the same thing.

I had the original for a while (didn't like it much) funny thing is this youtube one looks a bit smoother in operation. It is very very very close though, and I agree with edh.

Yes it is wrong and unethical...I still want one though! Smile

Is this a rip-off off or is this the dudes own creation? If it is his own creation than there should be nothing wrong with him giving the secret away...is this guy even a magician and bound to our strict and unbending codes, laws and what have you?

Who cares, it's a dead horse, how many times can it be beaten? Besides it is a rather ingenious device and would be fun to play with. I would hope any performer worth his salt and that takes himself as serious as Spellbinder would NEVER hafta use such a gimmick in a real world performing situation.

Just imagine getting caught with that thing up your sleeve, how ya gonna 'splain that one Lucy!!??

Walt, I have purchased the item that you are alluding to so I do not believe it unethical to wany to now more about this. Also, unless you know its history, how do you know it is a rip off?

Philippe,
You bought one? I didn't know it was for sale (although I suspected he'd be selling them soon)

I don't believe it's a "rip off" if he developed his own mechanism without directly copying something. He's not the originator of the concept as it's been around for years. It may look similar to other things on the market, but there's no crime in that, unless someone comes up with proof that he bought a competing product with the intention of making cheap copies to sell.

With that thinking there would only be one brand of cards, one cup maker, one PK ring, etc... What fun is that?

What's a rip-off is the price of the "effect" that you allude to.

Build a better(or cheaper in this instance) mousetrap and they'll beat a path to your door.
