I just got back from the convention, this is my 3rd year and the entertainment was unbelievable. Mac King, David Willliamson, John Carney, Mike Caveny, and Tina, what a lineup. Lectures and vendors were great also. As for the contest winners, the closeup was won by Payne from Seattle. The stage competition was won by a young kid named Sterling Dietz. Keep an eye on this talent!!!!

Hey Payne,
You are so right. The Saturday nite show was something so special that words cannot describe it. Legendary evening may be the best way. I laughed so hard that my stomache is stll sore. It was something we will talk about for years and years to come. We talked about it all the way home today. By the way, congrats on a stupid trick with a great story. Well done.

Sterling! Holy crap! You put on one hell of a stage act. I am glad I got to see it. It was like watching a young Jeff McBride. I hope you are performing at next years get together.
One more thing that was really awesome for me, was sitting down with Steve Dobson and just kickin' it with cards! He seriously has hands of gold! Steve, if you read this, hit me up, we need to get together again and session. Anyone know when Rick Anderson will have the photos ready? |

It was another great Magic Jamboree and one that will certainly be hard to top. Fantastic talent, great location and food, and a friendly and fun crowd. Thank you Mr. Kramien (and family and staff) for a fun and magical weekend. I'm already looking forward to next year's gathering.

A fantastic weekend! A couple of highlights for me were spending about 15 minutes with David Williamson working out some details on the top change. He's a real down to earth guy.
I also hung out with one of the fellas who lectured. His name is Chazz and not only did he teach me some cool stuff, but we just kicked it and talked about life. A genuinely cool guy who I hope to stay in touch with. Hart and Ben... You guys are cool and I appreciate you taking the time to work on that pass with me. Hope to meet up with you fellas again sometime soon. I can't wait til next year! Later, Rudy Tinoco |

Whats up guys!!!! I had a great time as well! The last show was worth the price of admission! Mac King and David Williamson had me falling out of my chair! Good times!!!!
Someone mentioned Mr. Mysto, Carney's alter ego, did I miss it or were you just joking around? |

Thanks Brian, I appreciate the compliment and comparison. All of us emulate, and hopefully not imitate, our styles from someone we respect and admire, and I do respect and admire Jeff, along with many others. I am young and still finding out who Sterling is. That is a goal each of us must strive for. One day it is my hope that my peers will say "that young magician reminds me of a young Sterling". But until that day, I am honored to be compared or mentioned in the same breath of a great magician.
On another note, the Kramien experience was something very special to me. It's like something from an era where family and friends are just as important as the magic. What a truly wonderful and intimate time I had. Special thanks to everyone of you that were there.(oops, bell rang back to class!)

Also Sterling, your act had some good music. The rest of the acts with music, not so much...

Too true! I can't imagine a better show, or a better weekend, or better company to share it all with. The Jamboree is the best time I've had in years and years. It was great meeting up with some of the folks from the Café, hanging out with David Williamson, meeting Mac King, John Carney, Mike Caveney & Tina Lenert, cheering and watching the Seattle crew win the awards (most of them, anyway), on and on and on...! The only sad point was the realization that Jerry Andrus would not be there; a reminder of the seriousness of his present condition.
The Saturday night show was legendary and will likely be remembered years from now. Although I can't imagine a better show or future line-up, I'm already looking forward to registering for next year. Can't wait to see all the photos! |

The highlights for me were the Mac King lecture, the David Williamson "lecture," and the Saturday Night Show!
And even though Payne beat me in the Close-Up Competition with a "Six Card Repeat," I'm happy that I finally won an award at Kramien's too (even if it was just 3rd place).

Hey there Philimon, Yes Payne beat you with a 6 card repeat but your act was very well done. The main reason he beat you is he through a sleight in the beginning in that he actually practiced and didn't flash......too much. Well Mac King even told Payne he has to stop now.....LOL Congrats to all. Brian

So, you're saying I would've have beat Payne if I had thrown in a French Drop into my act? (As long as I remembered not to point)

Hey Brian Cook,
I hung around till after 11am on Sunday waiting for you to wake up, to no avail, you still had the Do Not Disturb sign on your door. Couldn't wait any longer. Sorry! Does your offer still stand? |
