There is an excellent post in the "New to Magic" forum dealing with learning from books. It would be an excellent guide for beginners to magic.
I would like to cast my vote and my voice to having this particular post sticky-taped to the top of the forum. The link to the post is as follows: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......1&17

I not only second that, but also Ron Jaxon and others have from time to time written some very useful guides for beginners in that forum, I think a new forum which is read only with such posts moved there and permanently locked would be a great idea, a sort of magic Café guide for beginners. That post for how to learn from books is excellent, as are Ron's little "e books".
