CHANGE CAP EARLY REVIEW
I just received my change cap this morning. It is plain black and fitted (there are no adjustments straps on the back or elastic). I wear a 7 1/4 size and it is EXTREMELY TIGHT on my head. In fact it sits way up high on my head and doesn't look good. If your head is bigger than a size 7 you might want to pass on this item. The quality of the hat is excellent and the gimmick is well made. Creative Magic suggests you break the hat in before use. I can't give a complete review on how it works at this time because it will take time to break it in. I do believe it will work as they say in the instructions. Quality I give it 10 out of 10 Idea and Gimmick 10 out of 10 Size I give it 1 out of 10 (they should make it in different sizes or have it adjustable with elastic in the back of the cap) |

I was worried about the size issue myself. It seems that I will have to hold off on this until that is resolved. that's too bad as I was really looking forward to this. MSR.

Hi thanks for the kind review! The cap is a "flex fit", we went with this style because this is the nicest hat on the market (nicer than a fitted hat) and gives you a few sizes to work with in this case it is size 7 1/8, the most common head size, and it is supposed to fit 7 and 7 1/4 nicely as well. - this is what we are told by the factory. Our cost was much higher but we thought it would be the best in the long run so that we didn’t have to deal with different sizes and shops wouldn’t have to deal with it either.
But in the end we are here to serve so if you think we should offer different sizes please let us know and we can look into it if there is enough demand. It is funny because I grew up being told I had a massive head yet it fits me perfectly so I didn’t worry much! In the meantime please keep in mind that you don’t have to wear the hat to use it in your show. Looking forward to hearing more feedback! B

I was told that the change is not automated like a real change bag...I was told that you must close or fold the hat and re-open it for the "change to take effect. Is this true or can you ALWAYS hold the hat by the peak/brim and have the change take place ? (ie. like you hold a change bag by the handle ?)

When I saw this at Hank Lee's, I thought to myself, what a BRILLIANT idea! I always wear a cap, so this would be a natural for me. I also take a small size, although I don't know the measurements of the circumference of my cranium.
Anyways, congrats for a great idea whose time has come. That's what I call USING YOUR HEAD!

The Change Cap is indeed exciting news! They are enroute to The Magic Depot right now. I ordered stock, but also purchased one for myself :o)

(folded slips of paper, torn pieces of a card, two items you intend to link, candy that will repackage itself, and so.) But you can do the switch with out “shacking” the hat. Hope that helps! B

I have a pretty normal size head, and I measure 23" (7 3/8). This seems right on the border. I love the idea, but this just doesn't seem like its going to work for me until there is another size available (xl).

What a great idea. I hope they add sizes or an adjustable band. The mechanics of the change operation probably make an adjustable band difficult to do. If you are worried about SKU's ask the guy from Black's how many rings he has sold because he offers many sizes.

I'm another "big head". I have other Flex Fit brand hats that say size L-XL on the inside and fit me perfectly. Is that the same size as these hats?

I'm getting one regardless of the size. I plan on using the hat as a comedic prop by placing it on a kids head (routine in the making) and going with a comedic angle. I see too much potential not to take the dive and give it a whirl. Great idea here "B". I'm hoping to at least be able to customize stitch the front of the cap to suit my presentation.

This looks like an excellent device for impromptu mentalism - luckily I've got a small head, so I shouldn't have any problem with the size available now.

Well I decided to take the plunge, even though I am unsure of the fit. I ordered the cap from HP this morning. I will let you all know how it fits since I am right on the cusp of sizes.

I haven't received mine yet but I'm surprised over the concern over fit. I never really planned on wearing this cap. For me the attraction is that it's a change bag that looks like a completely ordinary everyday object. I don't feel a need to wear it to show that it is ordinary.

Because I plan on wearing it We will all have different uses for the cap. For me, it will involve wearing it. Thus the concern

You don't feel a need to wear it??? It's a hat! Why else would they make it a hat? that's the best part! I don't think it will fit my big head though... haha

I guess I'm just not a cap kinda of guy. Probably my age . I'm just tired of collecting billets in a change bag. It makes me look like I'm taking a collection at church.
Do you guys plan on using it for impromptu magic, street magic or does it just go well with your character and costuming? By the way, I'm just curious, how do hat sizes work? A 7 hat size CANNOT mean 7 inches around. |
