Hey guys.. Anyone have one of these?
How do you like it/them? I just ordered the 5 match pulls for $20.. How often do you need to change the paper, and do you need to buy the paper from Birch when you run out, of can you just use a cut piece of a matchbox's striking surface? Thanks, -Vinnie |

The Match Exploder by Dan Birch's is great!
The only changes I make when I purchased many years back is to swap the mini yellow band included on the black gimmick with tiny BLACK hair rubber bands OR the Round tips ONLY of the 260Q black balloon...I want a Full flat black gimmick...neat idea from Dan! |

Thanks for the help Dove Boy.. Its good to see someone likes them.. lol.. I was getting a bit worried I wasted $10... And I will change the bands.. I also like a flat black gimmick if possible, when being conceled..
And Monte, I will let you know how I like them... Any info on my above question about the strike paper? -Vinnie |

I always cut the strike paper off one of the large boxes of kitchen matches. While sitting here thinking about it, I would bet that fine grain sand paper would do the trick (150-600 grit). Also try using the 'strike-anywhere' matches, they are guaranteed to light, and if they don't on the pull, you can strike them on the floor or anywhere.

Hey monte..
Yeah, Strike Anywhere Matches is what I was planning on using.. And a good idea is to have some striking paper glued to something like the bottom of you shoe, or side of your shoe, or whereever youd like, so that in the case that it doesn't light, you can just light it on the shoe.. I think it would look nice aswell.. The thing about lighting it ont he stage, is that usually, stages are smooth and not rough surfaces, so I don't think Strike Anywhere's would light on the average stage.. Just something to keep in mind.. -Vinnie |

Practice lighting them by flicking your thumbnail off of them, it goes over real well. Don't burn yourself.
