With all due respect to my friend Richard Sanders and Patrick Reymond (the collaborator of ON FOOT) there is no reason to buy that now that INTERLACE exists. I bet Richard will just put all og his ON FOOT in a closed box, put some duct tape on top of it and write something like <ancient magic> on it.
BTW, had a show yesterday, did the trick and it's funny because when you lift your pantleg, it gives you as much satisfaction to see it there than it gives satisfaction to your spectator. When I see the ring, I always say in my head 'Thank You Richard!!!'

For those of us more challenged by a needle and thread than by a retention vanish, Stitch Witch is an alternative method.
It's good for those last minute alterations too. Jim |

I have a question for those who own "On Foot" and this. I have not seen "On Foot". However, Richard teaches a version of "Interlace" on the dvd which has no clothing restrictions. Is this routine similar in construction to "On Foot"? I don't mean in terms of the gimmick but in terms of the routine itself. Does that make sense? Just curious.

FYI...I have purchased from Madhatter before and have had no problems. I actually am waiting for an order right now. I emailed them and they said that it was lost in the mail so they refunded my 1/2 my order ($32) and are sending it out tomorrow. These guys are great.

Can some others who have Interlaced chime in and help paisa23 out. He wants to know if he can make shoes other than running shoes or dress shoes work as well as jeans.
I told him I thought he could but he'd have to make his own gimmick and the jeans would work if they were loose fitting. Anyone? Marc |

Baggy jeans could work. As far as making the gimmick to fit your non-running/dress show, that might be difficult. It could be done, but would take work. With that said paisa, I would buy it, even if it is for those rare times you are in running sneakers, or dress shoes- it is that good.

Smacks183,
Personally, I don't think making the gimmick fit the type of shoe paisa23 is wearing will be that hard. Your right, it will take some work but nothing that a couple minutes and a steady hand couldn't do. Although I have to agree with you on telling him to get it regardless...it is that good! Can anyone else chime in? Marc |

But it makes you think about the mark up on these effects when you have dealers knocking $20 (about 35%) off the price. $57, $49, $38? It makes the pricing seem so random. I was going to wait and by it from Sanders at the MAGA convention next month, but a $20 savings is significant. |

If I can say something about that is this Please don't think that magicians are becoming rich over ideas like that...they make ok money but if they want the dealers to make money, they (the creators) have to make only a few bucks so YOU (the buyer) won't pay too much. sometimes you see some shops that sale for a ridiculous price, they often don't even make a dime on the item but they want you as customers and they want you to buy some more stuff right away (Gee I saved 20$ so I'll but another trick for 20$)
Pricing an item correctly is not an easy task...you don't want to overprice an item BUT you want to make a bit of dough. My philosophy is this: if you will buy an effect and do it for real people...whatever the money you spent, it was worth it, if you buy a cool effect but you will leave it in a drawer, you paid too much no matter how much you paid. What I usually do is buy from the creator if I can (cause sometimes we can't). If they make more money and have other great effects, they will put it out. If they don't make money and they have another great idea, they won't put the effort of putting the product out. Just my 2 cents (even if some others will share their thoughts for 1 cent!)

Sorry I haven't read all 7 pages, (I've read about 3), but I just want to know the answer to one simple question and I hope I can get a simple answer. How 'gimmicked' are we talking about with the clothes? I don't want to wear certian trousers (pants) just to do this effect. It does look killer, but I am just curious as to how gimmicked 'gimmicked' really is

You'll have to wear a prepared pair of pants for this effect. Some folks have talked about making the set up more easily transferable from pair to another. Or you could just gimmick several pair.

Christopher, Richard also teaches a very nice version of the effect which requires no special clothing. It's not quite as clean but it's still pretty darn great.

Cool, thanks guys, I think you have me sold! I'm gona have to buy some shoes with laces now!!! I find slip on's so much more comfortable and convenient , I'm sure I won't regret this!
Come to think of it, the effect says 'wave a lighter underneath', and Richard uses a pen. I use No Smoking by Jean Luc Bertrand, could I use this lighter, then use that effect, and without going near my shoe show it on the lace? |
