Being a large forum I strongly feel that The Café needs RSS feed support. Personally I gather %95 of my daily online information from RSS feeds that I read through my Google homepage and other desktop feed reeders rather than surfing the whole net looking for news.

With the launch of Windows Vista and great sites like iTricks.com that support RSS feeds I think it would be a HUGE productive leap for The Café. I hate to say it but the main reason that I shy away from searching The Café's new topics is because there are too many of them and I don't want to download a page evey time.

Although I'm sure many aren't RSS savvy as of yet, I'm sure they will learn how cool feeds are when they are exposed to them.

Anyone behind me with this?

Yup.. I need RSS for seeing whats going on.. I've also tried to catch up on 'new post' but there are just too many...

If there were feeds of the hottest topics of the hour or something like that...I'd definitely be something I'd want. I know it'd be more work for the staff, but it may generate more traffic to the site.

As a fervent user of RSS feeds (I use Flock to manage them), I also strongly advocate that the Café get with the Web 2.0 train! If each forum had their own feed, I think that would be a big help. Also, for those who want to keep on top of EVERYTHING, a feed of all new topics or a feed of all new posts (or both) would probably get some use. There are millions of services out there that can help you do this, plus RSS isn't too hard to set up anyway.

Just a suggestion....

That suggestion has been made before, as have chat requests, etc. We simply don't have the resources for it.

Speaking of resources: what kind of resources would you need for rss feeds or chat requests ?
My guess would be that at least for RSS, which would really be of great help, it wouldn't be bandwidth or disk space.

What kind of resources??? As stated it can't possibly be HDD capacity or bandwidth...is it knowledge?

RSS is now and the future, I too feel the Café needs to step with the times. RSS feeds would make the board SO much more functional and convenient
