I live in Newport News, VA and all of the magic shops have closed and my magic friends have moved away. Is it possible to put a shout out to others on the Café that might be in my locality so we could get together? Was there a topic for that? Thanks.

You could try posting in "the marquee says"
You could also click on the members tab in the upper right corner of the page. On the list of members, click on the column labled "from" this will sort the members by location. It's not fool proof as it only picks up information entered by the member but it's a good start.

Any chance of getting a "regional" section? This could be either by State or major region in the case of the US. Maybe by country for some other countries out there. I think Canada could be done by region as well.

Jim, I see what you're getting at but the information we have is based on whatever the member enters in his profile. Some enter cities, others enter city and state, some enter nothing and others make up something. The list would pretty much be the same as in the members forum as I described above but we'll have to leave the decision to establish a new sort or section up to Steve and the tech folks.

I didn't mean a list. the section wouldn't have anything to do with profile information. Just a place for folks to post with others from their area. It would also be a great place for post like "Hey, I'm coming to xxx, anyone want to get together?"
I'm not sure there would be enough traffic to justify breaking it out too small, but maybe an "east coast, mid-west, west-coast" sort of format. I dunno. I'm not overly attached to the idea either way. Best, Jim |

Are you trying to say that you don't know exactly where "the land of the lost" or "outer space" is? Al Angello

I agree with the need for a regional or visiting magician section. I've been trying to track down any other magicians in my area without much luck. I really want to find out who else is in my area so we can meet at a diner or something and toss some ideas around. As it is, I have to drive a couple hours to meet up with other magishes.
