I was recently hired to do a corporate gig, and the lady in charge of putting it together had seen me perform before. I sent her the proposal via email...attached to the email was the document. I then got an email right back, and she said she made an adjustment before printing it and signing it. She then sent me the document back with the change. Every thing was identical except the price. She ended up increasing the price for the entertainment by $250. She told me she had seen me before and that is what I deserved. I have no problem with getting more money, and I have been getting a lot of great feedback from people like this. Does this mean I need to start thinking about a price change for my show?

If a client that has seen you perform requested that she pay more money for you, it is absolutely time to raise your rates. That's a great story!

Why not raise your prices?
If possible, try and get this lady to write you a testimonial detailing exactly what took place----that she had seen you before and that she increased the price. Very powerful in the future. |

Absolutely, ask her if she would do a letter of reference and send it to you. You obviously made a huge impression on her, so why not capitalize on that and use the letter for your website and other marketing needs?

Thanks, guys, for the support. I will definitely take the advice you guys give me, like always.
I usually send a thank you letter to clients after the show, and that is when I ask them to write the reference letter. -john |
