Therefore I did some fairly big modifications to it, including cutting out a portion and restitching it to be more 'form fitting', increasing the size of the neck hole, and adding Velcro to a portion so loading the dove into the bag is much easier. I also added an eyelet and will be using wire from now on. This bag is perfect for me now, and if you're willing to customize it a little, it's still a great deal for the price. However, I'm sure that the ones mentioned above require little to no customizing, considering they're made by real dove workers.

Today was my first day perfoming a dove from a newspaper. The kids were pleased.

Dynamike,
You will find that the transitition from Torn and Restored Newspaper is very natural and convincing. There is good reason to believe there was no place for the dove in the torn newspaper. Best of all is the price: Nothing Extra! Enjoy! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I was finish performing my last show at a hall for Easter. I left the crumbled newspaper behind my backdrop. I did not put my equipment away immediately. I noticed the adults and kids were cleaning up. A lady picked up the crumbled newspaper to throw away. The harness was inside, but it did not click in my mind. I was taking my equipment out my van when I was at home. I was looking for the harness. I just remembered the lady threw away the crumbled newspaper. I had to travel back to the hall to go thru the trash to get the harness. I almost had to order another one from you Bob.

Mike, I think we've all had experiences like this. Whenever I buy harness and such, I always buy two or three just for backup. I always repack everything before I leave a gig making sure everything is there. All my equipment has a place so I make sure nothing is missing. Especially if I'm doing a show where the audience can get to the equipment. You never know what a kid, or adult for that matter will pick up as a souvenier.

It seems like once I remember chasing down someone with a rubber ball that had a TT sticking out of it. (I wonder how you could want something like that? But I needed it for my act.)
I think we have all lost "treasures" doing magic. Last week I rescued a "knot" from stagehand's broom that went to Knots-Off Silk. (DoveLite sells them with three instead of two for a reason. We know what can go wrong, go wrong, go wrong... I may have proven it!) There is only one newsprint dove harness left to sell. Maybe they should have been made on a pull? LOL Enjoy! I have ordered several "Invisible Dove Harnesses" in the past. I now only have one left in my storage area. I guess it is better to order another "Newspaper Dove Harness."
Bob, I will be sending you a money order tomorrow for the last one. Thank you. Dynamike |

I bought a really nice Newspaper Dove Harness from Tony Clark Productions. It really looks like a piece of newsprint and blends in well with the paper in hand. Now I just have to get it all rehearsed and into the show! I want to do a torn-and-restored with the flash restoration, then into the dove production.
Had a lot of trouble with the newspaper book and trying to make the gimmick with the wire underneath. Perhaps I should take another look at it all since it's been a few years since I looked into it. Any suggestions?

Are you using Anderson's method?

Y4es it was the Anderson method. It has been many years since I looked at it now so it might be quite different if I looked at it now that I have more patience. I'm sure it can't be that difficult. I do like the flash restoration though. Which method do you prefer?

Bob, I'm still performing the Torn & Restored Newspaper with your Newspaper Dove Harness. I am using colored newspaper now, that is why I'm using the colored one you sent me.

Dynamike,
Often I use the "funny paper" or "comics" printed harnesses. The comics are more colorful and the ink doesn't come off on your costume like regular newsprint does. We do still have several of those harnesses. A major client requires that the newspaper used is always the Wall Street Journal so I'll never be able to escape to just the comics. But when I get a choice, I do use the comics. I like the color too. Newspapers typically give their extra Sunday papers to the local animal shelter. If you will pick the comics out of the old papers you can get a lifetime supply of matching comics for free. Give it shot! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander PS --- I've always wanted one that matched a road map. Then I could do "mad tourist". The mad tourist tears up and restores the road map and then calms down by producing a peaceful dove. Evey car needs one sometime. |

A lot of people get confused about using the words dove "harness" and "bag". I do have two of Bob Sanders' newspaper dove harnesses. I have one of Bob Sanders' comic dove harnesses. And I have one of Gen Grants' newspaper dove harnesses. I am so used to it now any color harness/bag will do. If I loose all of my newspaper dove harnesses, I will switch to any solid color. Sorry I misunderstood you all this time. Thanks. |

Dynamike,
You likely have the very last of the good newspaper dove harnesses DoveLite will ever sell. The printed Lycra fabric is no longer available. (The rest I saved for my shows! I won't have a source of the good ones anymore either.) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander PS --- Before the Lycra ones were available the plain white cotton ones with rubber stamps printed on them were used in emergencies or when necessary. At least now you can get the good white Nylon Tricot harnesses and do the same. (Nylon is softer, easier to clean and doesn't snag with dove claws as badly as cotton or polyester. The Nylon Tricot is also soft enough to palm off like the Lycra harnesses.) When I run out of the printed Lycra ones, rubber stamping the Nylon Tricot white ones will have to be my Plan "B". Using the Comic harnesses help stall off that day. |
