Does anyone have the WCM schedule for this year? I checked the website, and it hasn't been posted. I need to figure out when things get going so I can decide if I will be attending. Thanks in advance!

Here ya go!

This is what I have so far.

Thursday - An Evening with Dan Stapleton and an auction featuring hundreds of items that have been sent in to the Linking Ring for review. Phil Wilmarth has graciously donated them. There are DVD's, effects, books, etc. so bring lots of money - the bargains will be abound!

Friday Show, Close Up Show, Saturday Show, Sunday Workshops, Auction, Late Night Activities, what more can you ask?

Here's the flyer http://www.ibmring58.com/wcm/flyer.pdf and some info on the performers.

Performers
John Carney – One of the top sleight-of-hand artists in the world, John Carney has performed in casinos in Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. He has made appearances on The Jerry Seinfeld HBO Special and CBS’ Magicians Favorite Magicians, and he has served as spokesman for MasterCard, performing magic for their national television commercials. John has won two prizes at FISM and has been awarded The Magic Castle’s Magician of the Year more times than anyone in their history, and is the only magician to have won in all four categories.
He has written two highly acclaimed books of original magic (Carneycopia and The Book of Secrets) and has produced numerous DVDs. John will lecture and will be a featured performer on the Saturday Night Stage Show

Boris Wild – One of the most renowned French magicians in the world, Boris Wild is an international artist and lecturer, author and creator of original magic effects. He has won the title of French Champion of Magic, been awarded at the FISM World Magic Championships and the Monte Carlo Magic Stars Festival. Boris has performed on many French and international TV shows including The Greatest Cabaret in the World, Magic Show at the Lido, International Close-up Show (China) and Champions of Magic (USA). He has been featured at the I.B.M. International Convention, S.A.M. Convention, FISM, World Magic Seminar and The Magic Castle. In his first appearance at the Winter Carnival of Magic, Boris will lecture and perform in the Close-up Show.

Kohl and Company – Kohl and Company present one of the funniest magic acts you’ll ever see. They have performed around the world, appearing with such stars as The Smothers Brothers, Randy Travis, Mickey Rooney, Jeff Foxworthy, Gallagher, Lance Burton, Carl Ballantine and Rich Little. Kohl and Company received the Siegfried & Roy Golden Lion Award for comedy magic and they have received the Clown Hall of Fame Lifetime of Laughter award. The legendary Jay Marshall called them “The funniest spoof magic act I’ve ever seen.” You don’t want to miss them when they perform on our Saturday Night Stage Show.

Dan Stapleton – From cruise ships to corporate events to theme parks, Dan Stapleton has done it all. Most of his performing career has been spent thrilling audiences from “sea to shining sea.” In addition to performing on cruise ships, Dan was featured by Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus World for three years. He will be kicking off the Winter Carnival of Magic with An Evening with Dan Stapleton and what an evening it will be! Dan will teach you his impromptu dancing cane, how to get jobs on a cruise ship, his rope and silk routine, card tricks that play big and commercial and novel mentalism. Basically, it’s somethiing for everyone! He will also be featured on our Friday Night Stage Show.

Andy Dallas – The current president of the Society of American Magicians, Andy Dallas is the past producer of the S.A.M.’s Stars of Tomorrow show, chairman of the Occult Investigation Committee and is an award-winning actor and writer. He has been featured by magic conventions throughout the United States and also owns Dallas and Company, a magic and party goods store in Champaign, IL. Andy will perform in our Close-up Show and our Friday Night Stage Show.

He has won first place in several competitions, including Las Vegas World Seminar, Tannen’s International Magicians Convention, International Battle of Magicians (twice) and Magi-Fest. Joshua will lecture, perform in the Close-up Show and will be a dealer.

Shoot Ogawa – Twice named The Magic Castle Close-up Magician of the Year, Shoot Ogawa is internationally recognized as one of the most innovative close-up performers around. His award-winning routines have led him to winning first place in the Japan Grand Prix Tournament of Magic, the MacMillan International Magic Convention Close-up Contest and the Magic Masters Open Tournament. Making his first appearance at the Winter Carnival of Magic, he will lecture, perform in the Close-up Show and on the Saturday Night Stage Show. In addition, he is holding a Ninja Rings workshop on Sunday morning

Jay Mattioli – At 25 years old, Jay Mattioli has already traveled across the globe with his unique blend of magic. He is one of the few performers ever to win first place in the stage competition at both the I.B.M. Convention and the S.A.M. Convention. He won the I.B.M. contest when he was on 18 years old! Using a high-energy style, he combines magic, music, comedy and dance into an electrifying performance. Jay will be featured on our Friday Night Stage Show and will lecture.

What time will the events be starting on Thursday? Also, the Sunday Workshops, Auction, and Late Night activities, is that a mistype, or will things be happening all the way through Sunday night? I thought the convention was March 1-3. I'll be missing some school, and I'm trying to figure out exactly how much it will be! Thanks so much for the responses, and I am crossing my fingers that I will be there!!!

Michael - we look forward to having you! You will be provided with a personal assistant to help you with anything while you are in town. I am the Personal Assistant Coordinator, so if there is anything that you need, please feel free to call on me. I will email you with the information soon. Glad to have you!

The Evening with Dan Stapleton will begin at 7:00pm on Thursday, if I am not mistaken. You can get more info at info@winter-carnival.net

The Sunday workshops have been held at 12:00pm in the past, so you can count on that time frame. McBride went 5 hours.

The auction will be held after An Evening with Dan Stapleton. The exact time will depend on Dan. Johnny Thompson went just under an hour last year, Simon Lovell and Jeff McBride both went over 2 hours.

I don't think that any events will be held Sunday night.

Hey Scott Do you know when the Close-up contest is this year or if they are having one? I'd like to compete but I'm not sure when I'll be able to come.

There is going to be a close up contest. I think it is Friday in the morning. I'll get in touch with someone and get a full schedule today if I can. I look forward to seeing you there!

James,

As a rule the Stage contest has been held on Saturday with the Close up on Friday. However I know from time to time the contest have both been held on Friday morn and afternoon. I will say it's a safe bet that the Close up will be on Friday. Good luck and Break a thread!

Hey Guys! I cannot believe that I am going to miss Winter Carnival 2007. I had an awesome time last year and even go to be the opening act for Johnny and Pam Thompson on the Saturday show last year. I'm going to be on tour on the east coast of Virginia from March 1 - 6. However, my wife Tiffany and son Jordan is planning on coming to Pigeon Forge to watch the Friday and Saturday night shows.

Scott....keep an eye on Jordan and do not make him dissapear. ha!

Michael....good luck on the Friday night show. I'm sure it will be a HIT!

Keep the Magic Going!

Bob talked me into working for him as a vendor at the convention. It didn't take much persuasion.

Actually I asked him. See you there.

Be nice to see some friends from other conventions and meet new ones.
