He sure has a talent for finding new and interesting illusions. His take on the checker-shadow illusion ( http://web.mit.edu/persci/people/adelson......ion.html ) is brilliant. Instead of having the identical squares far apart in the image they are actually next to eachother thanks to his gradient idea. Scroll down to

and see if you believe your eyes when you are told that squares C and D are identical.
