The routine comes on CD now? Geez, I really need to update my props ... (I couldn't get it on 8 track.)

For what ever reason Rich Marotta has a Web Site named Palooka Productions. Here's the link to purchase Mugged:

Banana/Bandana? YUCK!!!
Didn't care for it when Copperfield did it on the China special, and I flat out can't stand it when people do it today. Some performers do it better than others and my opinion of course is overruled by the crowd's consistent aproval of it with the laughs that it usually gets. But really, the banana trick is WAY, WAY, WAY overdone!!! Mugged on the other hand is a very creative, and FAST BIT. Saw Tim Gabrielson do it on the Crook and Chase show, and he included his necktie in the mix, which made it MORE clever. But from my stand point, I appreciate the more clever original stuff, not routines that are overdone— like banana. |

Anybody ever do the bandana/banana trick for kids? I worry that kids today don't know what a bandana is...

I think they are great! They're funny, and they always get a laugh! I think that it's good for adults and children (if there are adults in the room laughing, the kids sometimes join in)!

Where can I buy a man eating plant? That thing is just one of those 'kerrazy' things I gotta have.

I find Rich Marotta rather annoying and there seems to be lots of dead spots where no one laughs on his videos. "Mugged" is kind of funny for that one gag at the beginning but Tommy Wonder does the general effect much better IMHO.
Instant Magician gets a lot of laughs when combined with the 20th Century Panties with a grown man doing the trick on himself. I do this one regularly and it kills. |

Thanks, duckster. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't find the vanishing bandana funny.
Now I'll agree that audiences who have never seen it will find it funny, but it has been way over done by magicians who add nothing new. Enough already! |

In my stage act, at the very beginning I give a spectator a card shaped giftbox for helping which I ask her not to open until she gets home and I have her pick a card which I get WRONG. I keep pulling out cards throughout the WHOLE act getting more and more frustrated as I go.
At the very end, I remind the audience that the woman had the gift BEFORE she even picked a card, amazingly, when she opens the box, it contains.....THE MUSHY BANANA!!! I then go on to reveal her card with Wayne Rogers Missing Spade. |

In my comedy magic I use Professor Cheers Pro Rope with the emphasis on the Pro version. It comes with a special holder which elimates all the looping problems and the set of Boxer are LOUD. Great Response.
Martin Lewis effects like Tri-Color Prediction, Comedy Comeback card, Comedy Coke Bottle and even Switched play very well. Also, don't forget Whit Hyden's Linking Ring routine!!
Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.
