Since some magic sites are primarily geared towards accepting PayPal, it can be very frustrating when PayPal is glitchy. Sometimes, I'll get this message from PayPal, "That credit card cannot be used for this transaction", even though my credit card is in good standing and my PayPal account is in good standing. When I call PayPal, they say that there are things beyond their control. If there are things in the system that cause a payment to erroneously be refused, they claim, there's nothing they can do about it. It's frustrating when PayPal is acting like a financial institution, but their customer service sounds like tech help desk workers who can only apologize helplessly. If my bank or my credit card company were to give me this type of service, I'd probably leave them.
I'm so frustrated with PayPal that I'm tempted to stop using them entirely. Yet that also means that there are some magic sites that I'd never be able to purchase from again.... |

Doing internet business by mailing a money order costs me a day or two in extra time, but the problem you are outlining is one I never face. So far I have encountered exactly 1 person who would not take a money order.

Rule one: Your credit is probably better than PayPal's! Why trust them at all!
Rule two: If two or more responsible adults use your computer, PayPal won't work anyway. Rule three: PayPal apparently has no living breathing employees that communicate with victims (I meant customers). They do have an assortment of randomly generated inappropriate responses to questions that have no relevance to the question you asked. Rule four: PayPal is not going to respond to any form of attempted communication except their flawed messaging system or law suits. Rule five: Start with prevention: DON’T USE PAYPAL! There are many very functional systems available to you that won’t alienate the buyer or the seller. It’s your reputation too! Rule six: If you ignored Rule five, hire an attorney NOW! |

Get over it, those who can't adapt will be left behind. My father does not have an ATM card because he says he doesn't need one, so he carries cash everywhere, soon no one will remember what to do with cash. HA HA HA

I get the same message as you do i.e " This credit card can't be used for this transaction.". There is nothing wrong with my cc either. Yes, I can relate it's very frustating. I would rather send a check or a money order ( if a seller is willing take it )rather than going the whole PayPal route.

I have had the paypal jitters ever since I heard about them. I won't touch them with you know what.
I get a lot of stuff on ebay, and want to SCREAM every time I find an item I want , but the bottom of the page says PP only. As if PP is some kind of god! Man, chill! A money order is not going to bounce! It's GOOD American money. Yet these people are so gung ho about PP that they think it's the only thing in the world. My opinion is that they LOSE a lot of business because they are so narrow minded. I know for fact they lose mine. I can understand people not taking personal checks, but Postal money orders? Get a life.

If I sold something on ebay I wouldn't accept your credit card either, I'm just a guy trying to sell my stuff, but any paypal member can accept your paypal payment.
Doug If you are afraid to use paypal you can always open a seperate paypal only checking account. You are just creating imaginary obsticles, and you can't turn back the clock. This is not rocket science. Al Angello

We have both merhcant accounts and paypal. We have yet to encounter any problem with paypal over the course of five years. I'm sure people have had problems...we just havnt seen any.
