Nicholas J. Johnson, it looks to me like what I have, it is basically a large finger chopper that you might have had as a child. It even works the same. I do not use mine as I have a "disecto" arm chopper that has been custom painted to be condusive to my style. All in all I guess it would work the same as my disecto but I just like Disecto better, I think most of all because people may have seen the one you linked to, just in a smaller version.

Thanks - I assumed it was an L shaped design but it's good to know.

...for sure.
For the routine I am think of doing, I want to imply that the chopper IS faked (since everyone assumes it is) but then through my incompetence, create the illusion that the spectator's life is in danger. (e.g. accidentally chop the carrot, tell him if I put the blade in one way in chops, the other way it doesn't....then get confused.) |

Hi Nick
I actually have this model but with a different finish on the front. It is an L design which is a bit sloppy, I had to insert a magnet to keep it from falling down when in the dangerous position. I use it for chopping my Rocky Raccoon by enticing him into it with a carrot, which gets chopped instead. The fun with Rocky takes the heat off the fact that most adults had one of these as a child. However if you want to play up on the fact that everyone knows how this works then this is a good choice. It really looks like those finger choppers we all had as kids, and I've still got mine! |

So the verdict is that is a good prop but
a) it's the same as the kid's version b) it may need 'fixing' |

Zamboni,
I really like your using the chopper to try to mince Rocky the Raccoon. To me, that could be worked up for a lot more comedy than using humans. (And by the way, neither the assistant nor the magician in that ebay photo looks particularly happy or enthusiastic about performing their chopper. Maybe that's why they're selling it?
