I am assisting Al Belmont in the UK over the next couple of weeks. He will be presenting a magic show on stage in schools and, at the same, get the fire safety message across to the kids in his act. I will be doing a little pre-show close-up magic in the audience first, doing simple coins, cards, and sponge balls, but I really thought it would be nice if I could come up with an effect, or just some good patter, to reinforce the fire safety messages, i.e. anything related to smoke alarms, batteries, fire, burns, safety, etc. Has anyone got any ideas to help out??
Thanks in advance for your time and help, again! matt |

What about a thimble routine with the thimble covered with a Band-Aid?

For your magic words use the addage "Stop, Drop and Roll"
Blister effect of some kind A three fire alarm monte where they have to find the one with the battery. (Pushing the test button to see if it is the one) The pitcher that refills with water. Every time you have the kid dump (Or yourself) it out, reinforce "How do you treat a minor burn?" Kids "COLD WATER"- Dump the pitcher. Still thinking...Hopefully more will come to me. Gwyd |

"Fire alarm" is a nice effect. You actually can hold a cotton ball that's lit in your hand and the flame doesn't burn your hand. I've used mine many times. |
