Didn't it always used to be Café policy to let members know when their posts had been edited and why? Obviously this is not an issue when correcting grammar and spelling, but I thought that the staff here once had to contact the members whose posts they had edited.
I'm not angry or upset. Just curious. My question therefore: what's changed and why?

Stephen,
Things haven't changed. There are some forums of course that don't require staff to notify members of an edit or deletion. Then there is the human error. I will be the first to admit that when I delete a topic that has gone awry, I may miss a PM. It's not easy to remember everyone and everything that happens here. I can assure you it's not intentional. I hope that answers your question.

As Jim pointed out, the volunteer Café team members do indeed try their very best to notify members when a topic or post has been removed, moved or has been edited for inappropriate content. However, mistakes can and do happen and all we can do is ask your patience in such matters.
Finally, there are many forums on our menu that clearly state that posts that do not comply with said forums policies will be promptly removed and with no notice of any kind given. So ya know.
