I be going down to NJ this weekend if we we don;t get this big snow storm. I was wondering if anyone know of any place either in the NYC or NJ that might have doves for sale.
thanks mike |

Hey Mystical..when purchasing from a breeder, you are getting your $$'s worth. A breeder makes sure you are getting a quality bird. They take pride in their doves and you know they will be healthy. When getting your doves from another source other than a breeder, you run into the possibility of getting a diseased bird (from experience), and a bird with diseases can terminate all your other doves just by being in the same place. You're better off spending the money now, than the high Vet bills later on.
Shipping on Doves hs changed quite severely and the shipping could be more than your spent on the dove. If you can pick up, you're better off.... And don't forget, you are gaining a pet/companion not a prop, so $$ spent is important - HEALTH.... hope that helps some. |

Tom (Alpha) is right on the money!
I was actually surprised when I got my little guy at the price and thought they would be more expensive then that... But follow what Tom said, and you'll be fine! =] -Vinnie |

Mike, just an FYI on shipping doves. The cold weather will not harm the birds at all. It is more serious to ship them when it is hot because they have trouble breathing inside a box in the heat. It's like putting them in an oven. They can survive just fine in cold weather.
As for price, you'll find that many magicians will sell you doves for about $20 each but $30 from a breeder is not out of line for the reasons mentioned above.
