Hi guys,
What are the recommended coins / crops (shells/okito,etc) a coin worker should have? Do you guys have any recommendations on where to get half dollars for cheap? Unfortunately I'm from Indonesia (not USA). So getting US coins or magic props are very hard if not impossible. Thanks.

You could order custom gaffs from Todd Lassen or Jamie Schoolcraft. Todd's website is http://www.toddlassen.com and Jamie's is http://www.coingaffs.com. I would recommend a unexpanded shell set with 4 coins, a matching copper/silver coin to start. Then you could add a expanded shell, a flipper coin, and you can't go wrong with a nice sun and moon coin. With these props you could do a LOT of magic and should keep you busy for a while. Hope this helps.

Thanks dxsare for the reply.
in terms of coin types, would you say half dollars will do just fine? or I should get morgan/silver dollar, etc? btw, anyone knows where I can get regular kennedy half dollars? the half dollar coins I found on ebay or internet, usually are special (silver coins, etc). All I want just regular 50c coins. Right now, I only have 3 half dollar, kinda hard to do a routine with only three. Thanks again.

Dealers sell half dollers. Try and English ones, or American dealers are cheaper; you will pay postage so buying several makes sense, or buy your gaffs at the same time.
I would go for an expanded shell and a copper silver coin from a mass producer rather than a top-of-the-range maker. You won't need a flipper yet. You will need some old English pennies too. If you are just starting with coins, learn some tricks using local coins. |
