So I was thinking about doing, instead of fruit or something like here at our magic shop, of ending with the cheap Adams Cups and Balls set under my RNT cups. Let me know what you think.

David Regal has done that to considerable acclaim in his "Cups and Balls and Cups and Balls" routine. See Constant Fooling, Vol 1.

I will have to look that up. Any videos on the web to see this?

No idea. You could get the DVD set, though - you can see the routine and learn it.

I saw it online a long time ago. Don't know if it was David Regal or someone else performing his routine. If I find it again, I'll let you know.

Hi Guys -
The video of "Cups & Balls & Cups & Balls" is on my first L&L DVD set, "Tricks", "More Tricks", and "Enough With the Tricks Already". It has an interesting method that you will like. I was also put on one of those compilation DVDs that L&L sends out (was it free in Genii? Maybe). If you want the books or DVDs, I have them, and discount them. All the best. |

The L&L compilation DVD (performance only) is free with any purchase. It's the third in the The Greatest Collection of Magic Performances Ever Assembled on DVD promotional series. But to learn the routine, you really need either Constant Fooling or More Tricks.

Rings N Things Foxy II's fit quite nicely under the Johnson cups. I seem to recall that they fit under my PF cups, as well. I started to work on a routine like that and got distracted.

David Regal's routine is WONDERFUL, and I highly recommend it. It would be the routine I would do if I wasn't already doing my own. I periodically pull out the DVD just to watch that routine, I enjoy it so much.
Funny story: I was at a magic convention several years ago, setting up my table in the dealers room. I had my back to the room, and it came into my awareness that someone nearby was calling, "David! Hey, David! Yo! David!" I turned around, surprised that the person was talking to me. He was holding David's book "Close-Up and Personal" and wanted me to sign it. I looked at the cover. While I'm over six feet (quite a bit taller than David), I had, at the time, the same hairstyle, and there was a slight resemblance. I said, "You don't want me to sign your book. My name's not David." The guy's face fell, and in a very sarcastic voice he said, "Well, excuse me, MR. REGAL!" He turned on his heel and stormed off. After I stopped laughing, I chased him down, apologized, and explained that I'm not David Regal, I'm Scott Guinn. His reply: "Huh! Never heard of you!"

David's routine is a wonderful piece of entertainment. The presentation is way off the beaten path and will hold your interest throughout the entire routine. In addition, the magic is first class. It won't be easy to top Regal's routine. My hat is off to you, David.

I do know that those cups from RNT do fit. When Mike Brazell owned it, he would came to our magic shop. My Dad helped during the very first RNT, so I got to see those cups and play with them before anyone else. It was awesome. Anyways, thank you to everyone who has posted. I will have to check out Regal's Cups and Balls, for sure.

Thanks for the comments, everybody. Scott, that story is hilarious. But I'm pretty close to six feet.
David P.S. If you were walking across the street and a car skidded to a stop just six inches in front of you, you'd say that was "pretty close". I think I made my point. |

Well, of course, the average man thinks six inches is much smaller than six inches actually is...
I think I made MY point!
