I actually load the lemon before I hand it out, so there's no more work to do. The thing is, that the handling of the note is so, so clean, that no one ever imagines that the note the spectator has signed and is still holding, has been s******d. But I do like your idea, takeachance, that the first thing you do is hand out the lemon.
The load itself is also virtually invisible, but I think the really strong point with FA is that while all the dirty work is being done, your hands are visibly very "clean". Folks who keep watching eagle-eyed at what you do should be quite certain that nothing "fishy" went on. It does take some time to master the "move", but in no time it can become very easy. |

I have had BYB for a while now as well as TFA. BYB is graet if you have time to prepare but TFA if you want something for on the fly. If you are a beginner and you want a trick to knock em dead, BYB is great for a beginner. TFA takes more skill but the impromptu aspect is killer.

I'll say it one more time...TFA is a catch all method not confined to a single routine. You can use it as it suits your own style.
I have indeed reviewed all the material that come with BYB. It is a fine solution to the problem if you use it in context with Mr. Fishers perameters. TFA however trancends a specific routine. S |

The Final Answer is an excellent, versatile gimmick that allows you to perform infinite, unique and entertaining versions of the bill in lemon/orange. With TFA you can do stage, parlor and/or close-up bill in lemon routines. TFA is not restricted to a single style or presentation but is flexible so you can do the routiens as detaield in the instructional/performance dvds or create your own routines.
Mr. Alexander performs stage and close-up routines using the TFA in the dvds. His explanations of the routines, handling of the gimmick, switches, and loading are extremely thorough and clear. The techniques using the gimmick need practice of course but it is quite easy once you get used to it. It is not difficult to master. TFA is easy to carry with you. I highly recommend it.

I don't think I need to offer any more reviews of TFA. It has come to define my career over the last couple of years, and my reviews can be found elsewhere on the original thread.
I plant the lemon in the audience 15 minutes into the show and then load the bill as my closer routine as the spectator takes it out of the bag. Never...can they retrace the steps. All they know is the lemon was in the audience for 40 minutes, they watch the audience member hand the bag to the onstage spectator, he takes it out of the bag, and he cuts it open. The gimmick is extremely versatile. My one question though that I see countless times and I have never understood...those who always question the bill being wet....have you ever had anyone complain about this, or is this YOUR personal opinion without trying it? I did a signed bill in lemon 3 times a night for 3 years as a bartender and a signed bill in lemon since 1995 as the closer in my show. Literally over a thousand performaces of a bill in a lemon. NEVER ONCE have I had anyone complain about the bill. (The few times I did a torn corner, yep, complaints, but never a signed bill in a lemon). What I have had are people who book me a year later that still pulled a signed $100 bill out of their wallet and show me they still kept it as a souvenier and tell people about it. And on quite a number of occasions, when I use the President or CEO of the company for the routine, they give me the signed $100 bill as a TIP after the show. I always whisper as I lead them off stage that if you let it sit for two minutes unfolded it will dry right out. Also, with Scott's brilliant method of preparing a lemon, I actually juice every lemon before the show. In that I squeeze as much juice as possible out of the lemon. So the bill is barely moist at best. Last Friday evening, after a show...I kid you not, ever adult male in the audience gathered around the on stage assistant after the show and they were literally passing the bill around smelling and feeling it. To me...the wet bill sells it. I am just amazed every time I hear the question, because after a 1000+ performances, NEVER has anyone complained about a wet bill. And I always thank and talk to that particular spectator after the show. Just my two cents. |

Hey guys,
I just found this thread and wanted to chime in concerning my routine. The actual gimmick in "Bet Your Bucks" is certainly not restricted to any particular style or routine. On the DVD I give you my full routine...but you are certainly not required to use any of it. The loading gimmick primarily serves to "justify" the borrowing of the bill. It also serves as a secret means to load the bill and seal the lemon. All this is accomplished under a BIG laugh. Once the bill is taken...you do not have to use the supplied "game show" routine...you can actually use ANY routine you wish. It's actually a pretty versatile gimmick! The only situation I would not use BYB is for strolling...this is really a stand up or stage item...other than that the possibilities are endless! Take care my friends, Cody S. Fisher

If I may throw a naive but sincere question in - the "bill in lemon" effect I've heard of most is Malloy's Lemon Game. How does that one compare to these other two? Is there a reason for comparing the other two but not this one (is it inferior? less versatile? more for just comedy that the other two you're comparing?). If I have the $$ to just buy one, and am new to these and want the best one in terms of versatility in technique (applicable beyond lemons, such as to Potty's excellent Potato Head application), magical "Ahhh!" and applicability to the family show crowd, which of the three (including Lemon Game) should it be? Thanks.

Mumblemore,
I have stated in another thread that I think The Final Answer, Bet Your Bucks, and The Lemon Game are the three best BTL's on the market. I have them all and like them all for different reasons. I use the Bet Your Bucks routine in my big stage show and it plays GREAT...I have used The Final Answer in close up situations and it absolutely kills! I also love The Lemon Game! In fact I have sometimes used The Lemon Game "routine" with the secret loading device from Bet Your Bucks. from time to time Concerning your potato routine...you could use all three of these. You would have to alter The Lemon Game routine a bit and for Bet Your Bucks and TFA...the potato would not be as "clean" in the end as a lemon...but it would work with some minor routine changes. However...if you are looking for a good bill to potato...I know that Paul Potassy has a GREAT version in his latest book...it may even be on his DVD's? Take care my friend, Cody S. Fisher

Potty's Potato Head routine sounds hilarious. And familiar now with Lemon Game and TFA, it seems you do not necessarily need the TFA gimmick for a Potato Head routine. If you use the brief case "cover" as Malloy instructions, you should be able to seal the spud, add the Potato Head feet, and execute the trick. Am I missing something, or am I right?

Ok I think I've read all the threads now on BYB and FA and one pretty important point has not been mentioned. I very much like FA but it doesn't work with English money ( not unless you want to rip it in half first ) so for me FA is not an option here in England. Does BYB have this problem? reading between the lines it doesn't but I'd like that confirmed.
My one other concern is the talking issue, Cody mentioned somewhere putting a towel in your case, has anyone tried this and has it solved the problem? |
