I wear a lot of black. Lately, all black.
I have a skunk, it never sheds, but it's too difficult to see against my suit. I looked on line at the Tenyo ones, they look like expensive toys. I'd have to see one up close. For now, Magic Masters' look better... think I'll stick with them. Thanks everyone.

I always used the shedding problem to my advantage. I mean, animals shed. Fake ones shouldn't. So.......

The Magic Masters Rocky Racoon's are no longer being made. Somehow I've been getting a rash of orders recently, even though it's not supposed to appear on my web site. But there's a link to an old archived page somewhere on the Internet.
To Dan, Neil Foster used to do a cute vanish of a spring rabbit and a spring skunk. You could get them both into an Abbott Mi**** Box. He would first pick up the Skunk, pretend to feed it something, and then place it into the box. Then he would pick up the rabbit. As he tried to put it into the box, the rabbit looked inside and, apparently seeing the Skunk, he would struggle and fight not to go in the box! Very funny bit. Finally Neil got him in and both animals vanished. This was a demo routine that could potentially make them three sales; 2 spring animals and the box. Dennis Loomis

I use Chad long's Rocky Racoon available on Penquin Magic. One of the jobs Chad had was demoing Rocky Racoon at trade shows.

Hello to all magicians of quality and others...
I was not aware that Magic Master was no longer making Rocky's. That's a shame, since I always like theirs the best. I used to work for Ken at the shop in Atlanta, back in the mid-80's. Great way to learn the best handling. As for the shedding problem, there's a simple remedy. When you first get the racoon, take him out of the bag and shake him like crazy. Run your hand back and forth over his fur until there is no more shedding. It may take a minute or two, but this will help tremendously. Also, when you are at the magic shop, ask to see as many of the racoons as possible. They are all a little bit different, especially the faces and tails. Pick the pne that you like the best. I prefer a longer tail. The face can be adjusted by trimming the fur around the eyes. You'll need to do that with just about every one you get. Shameless plug, I have a booklet on how to customize your Rocky, including adding costumes. The link is in my signature. Have fun entertaining with your spring animal, it could easily be your signature routine! |

This is an item, I like to try out prior to purchase.
At U.S. Toys a few years ago, they had a spring fox. I tried it, and really liked the way it moved. So did my audiences. Some puppets I have bought or bid on "site". One example is the 3 foot roller skating marionette. By the way, Clarence has only 2 feet, and is 3 feet tall. Harris

I worked for Magic Masters as well for many years and sadly have heard they have closed up shop. Rob Stiff is making them now and they aren't the same. I agree with Greg's advice on the shedding.
