I was down at misdirection Magic shop yesterday and met Joe and Greg. After buying a couple of supplies, I was on may way out...Greg said..."i wanna show you something"... Then he did Freakey! To cut to the chase....I ended up going back inside and bought one. I think it is the best product I have seen and bought in a loooooong time. Practical as well.

Just a good word for Gregory Wilson's customer service. My Freakey had a small problem, and he replaced the key set immediately without hesitation.
I think this type of effort by magic dealers should be duly noted. Cheers, Jerry |

About 20 years ago I bought a key - effect (similar to the color changing knives) with the colors brass and silver. And it was impossible (in most light conditions) for most of the spectators to realize the difference between these colors - so they often would not realize any effect.
Can anyone tell me please, if this problem is actual with this key-effect; are the colors very different or is it difficult for the spectators to realize the correct color, if they see ONLY ONE KEY. Thank you! Angelo |

Angelo, the brass and silver key are easy to distinguish from each other. The brass key has a darker aged bronze color which makes is easy to tell apart from the silver key. In addition to this the silver key has a textured design on both sides while the brass key is smooth on both sides.

If you are still deciding whether to get FreaKey or not, this might push you over the edge. This place has it for $69.95 right now:

Lol has anybody who bought it been UN-happy with Freakey? I have been wanting to do a copper/silver for some time, and with the price on some of these sites and how the Canadian dollar is doing I may have to get it heh.

Buy it , you can't go wrong. If you lock your door when you leave you'll always have your keys with you, heh?

Well let me say I did't think Freakey was all that it was hyped to be. I have been looking at getting this for the past few months. Just so happen one of my friends picked this up and already had one orderd from another dealer. I had asked to see the effect in real person so when he showed it to me I wasn't all that enthused. Well I thought maybe his presentation was lacking a little but after I seen the work on the keys I thought "95 bucks for that". He had even offered to sell the extra he had for 75.00 to me. I still thought that was too much. Just my thoughts.

I like Greg's routine for Freakey but I don't think it will suit a lot of people's personalities. I tested out Greg's routine on a few people and it got pretty good reactions. Then I decided to try out David Acer's Keys to the Kingdom routine and I got much better reactions. It fit my style much better.
One thing I like about David's routine is that the premise and patter he uses is something everyone can relate to. He also has a couple of phases in the routine that involve the keys doing something other than transposing between hands. There is a nice visual change where the key changes from silver to brass right out in the open with just a wave of your hand. The silver key is then found inside the spectator's hand. The end of the routine involves the final key in your hand vanishing which always catches people off guard and it's very easy to do. If you're not into the monte shtick then you might want to try out Keys to the Kingdom. I believe it's the last routine taught in the Key Players section on the DVD. Matt |

So what has the best price for Freakey and has anyone bought it from that site?

I practiced it in the mirror for a little while after watching the DVD all the way through once and going back to review some key parts, (no pun intended), that interested me. I then practiced on my wife. I could not wait for the next day to try this out. The people at the local coffee shop where I buy my iced tea every day always ask me to do a trick for them, (they give me free tea when I do). I used Greg's core performance/patter and it went over very, very well. I've performed it a couple of times since for people familiar with me so I can get the feel of the effect and personalize the patter a bit. Each time but once I've put the two 'silver' keys in my pocket, gently took the brass key from the spectator holding it, (after they finished freakey-ing out), and put it in my pocket, as well. Once elsewhere, I put them back on the fob. One time so far I wasn't completely surrounded; so I was able to place all three keys back on the fob without flashing the gimmick - returning the keys to performance-ready position a bit later after I was alone. So far, no one has asked to see the keys because they held them before the illusion began and, as far as they knew, saw them fairly throughout the performance and held both keys again near the finale. It starts clean and, so far, ends clean enough. What works best for me, though, seems to be just putting them in my pocket for the time being. Here's what I did just today, though: I put the fob on my Rinkey Dinky ring, (that has my house key on it). Now I can do just the FreaKey effect, or I can do a ring flight to keyring and after revealing the ring on my keyring and returning it, I can go into FreaKey. Two awesome effects on one key ring that can go anywhere and is above suspicion. You can't beat that!! Oh, and I've read some questions on the price. Let me just say that I have no problem with it. This way, the average kid who visits his local magic shop to learn the latest trick he's seen on television won't be carrying this around. The price keeps the secret of the effect at a safe distance from the general public. It's protable magic with real items that can go everywhere and be done anytime. That makes it worth the price right there. The DVD is very well organized and produced, adding to the value. My only complaint - which is very minor - is that the gimmick has a 'dark' spot at each of the four corners of the square part of the key which is glaringly obvious to me; but being copper/brass and their known blemishes and tarnishings, I figure it won't be so noticable in a month or two. At least I hope so. So far, no one has noticed the spots because the flash is so fast and they're focusing on its overall color and not corner-specific blemishes that, to me, make it look 'put together.' Again, I'm looking at it with magician eyes, not a spectator's eyes; so it's a minor thing and I will not be returning or exchanging the item as it is not a big deal. But I wonder - does anyone else have that feature? |

My gimmick had a dark spot on it near the center. But over time both of the brass keys have darkened from handling them and the spot isn't noticeable anymore. Just give it some time, it should eventually blend in.

Anyone have thoughts about getting uncut keys and making them machined to be your house keys as opposed to getting them pre-cut?
