There is a fairly well known occultist by the name of Franz Bardon who worked as a stage magician in his youth under the name Frabato. I haven't been able to find any information on his career outside of the badly written occult novel of the same name that was written about him after his death. Apparently, according to the novel, he was pretty famous in Checkloslavakia during the early twentieth century but I can't find any record of his performances. Possibly because they either don't exist or their not in english. The novel isn't much to go by because it was written by a 'disciple' of his so it's highly biased and deals more with his involvement with secret societies and his imprisonment in a concentration camp for his work as an occultist. Also from what I have found I don't think he had a very long career because later in his life he worked as a naturopath and graphologist. If anyone has come across any record of a checkloslavakian stage magician who called himself frabato I would be interested in reading it.

I have some of Franz Bardon's works that have been translated into English. He lived in Germany for a long time. I'll check Conjuring Arts and see if they have any record of a Czechoslovakian magician named Frabato or Frabado.

If you have read any of his occult works, you might think he was a tad bonkers.

Well, that was fast!!! There are no references to Frabado or Frabato on Conjuring Arts.

Hello Bill,

Thank you for looking, I appreciate it. I get the feeling any record of his career has probably been lost. Due to the nature of his books I don't think he would have conceded to using tricks and his shows may have been heavily influenced by his occult studies. This is what got me interested in looking for more information on him, to see how the public responded to the nature of his shows.

You might do better to consult some of the occult groups. They may have information on his presentations.
