Some of the material is very good for stage work.

I am VERY disappointed with this purchase, what a waste of money.

The majority of the effects use almost childlike methods, not clever and cunning at all. Compare these methods to Max Maven's and Richard Osterling and you will know what I mean.

For example Video Rental, I figured it out immediately after watching it. And Graphology, please, is there really one person out there who performs this for people? The method is SOOOO obvious that any person from 6 year old to 80 will see how it works.

And last of all, it was very annoying to watch how Haim Goldenberg explained the effects and that Guy Bavli constantly iterrupted him and said that it was not as good and it should be better if you do this and that and so on.

I can't wait for my new Osterlind's DVD's to arrive.

Hmm, my review seems a little harsh if I compare it to the others. And I don't mean to put these two guys down. Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't fly for me, sorry.

Please have a look a those 2 dvds, I was really surprised by the boldness of some methods although they're not new, they're very clever.
I found graphology very clever too and if I remember well, this principle was used by MAX MAVEN a long time ago in a living or dead effect.

I agree the last statement of Patrick66 on the explanations part.

With due respect to Patrick66 and his opinion, I liked the DVDs. Not all the effects were things I would perform (i.e., they were not "me") but I found most all to be interesting and I like the presentations.

Unlike Patrick66, I particularly liked the explanation section--including the interruptions and the back and forth discussions between Guy and Haim. I was fascinated by the brainstorming and the manner in which they "organically" discussed an effect and gave options and discussed pros and cons in an effort to create maximum impact and give an itme maximum effect. To me, this was creativity showing through and was the best and most interesting part of the videos.

I can certainly understand why Patrick66 might not have apreciated some of the effects or the format used by Guy and Haim in the explanations. But, for me, "it worked".

Best regards to all.

A lot of stretch time on the DVD's. I felt the material should have be put on one DVD instead of three, and then would have been an ok value.

I agree. Way too much padding on this set and overpriced for what it was.

I thought these dvd's were okay. I came away with a few ideas , a few things that got me thinking in creative ways.

With that said, they probably could have been put on 1 or even 2 dvd's. No need for 3 dvd's

Could I hear more about Video Rental? Does anyone else have an opinion on its quality? The effect sounds like it would fit perfectly in with an act I am creating, if the method is not as bad as Patrick66 says.

Thanks,

Not everything would be everyone's cup of tea I guess but I believe there were several gems on this set and I found many of the effects and tips great in the sense of cross polinating them with other performance material I already do.

I particularly liked IPD and found it one of the best ideas on the series. I have progressively tweaked IPD in different directions and it has developed into one of my go to effects. I also liked the stop smoking effect, it was very entertaining and unusual stunt.

The chat sessions with Guy and Haim were good, I thought there was a lot of value in the way they did it.

Cheers,
Al

I wrote this awhile ago but I think there's at least some descriptions of the effects that may help:

Interestingly, Haim Goldenberg has released some of the material from this DVD set as stand-alone tricks:

Many thanks Wayne that answers my question. I was interested in the envelope prediction with numbers routine in particular so after reading your review I'll pick these up
