Hi everyone,
I am trying to find a small flint striker, with a wheel, like a zippo lighter, but just a unit that will allow me to have the striker, wheel and casing apart from a lighter. Basically I want to attach one of these little self contained strikers to a candle for a self lighting effect. I hope this description is understandable, I guess you understand why my google searches didn't work. I am looking for the unit to be as small as possible because it will rest right near the flame, which is very visible to the audience. Thanks so much for your help, DJ |

Fantasio made one of his candles with just such a striker wheel (very tiny). I don't see it on his website, so they may be out of production.

You can take apart an empty BIC lighter.
Not much to it. There's usually quite a bit of flint left. I've done this with a couple of old lighters. |

Thanks guys,
I do need the casing to be metal, the wheel sits close to the burning flame during preformance, so it if were to disassemble a bic, it would possibly melt. I am looking for the smallest one possible. I believe the Fantasio version came on the appearing lit candle? Does anyone have one they want to part with? Wouldnt like to buy a new one then dismantle it... Thanks all, DJ |

I dismantled mine.
It was eight dollars. All you have to do is take off the finger piece. Quite simple to do. Best Brandon

DJ,
The ones that Fantasio carried came one the Candle and Ribbon, for a lit production, vanish, reappearance lit, etc. The entire striker unit was about1/2" long, and about 1/8" wide. VERY TINY. The fit into a 2nd bore in the core of the candle, next to the wick's bore. You should post a "Wanted To Buy" listing in the magic for sale section. Maybe someone has one they'd be willing to part with. ~michael
