To go with the threads on 'funniest lines' and '6 movie tracks to be cast away with' - how about:

1. - The WORST movie you've seen recently (or ever)?

2. - The BEST movie you've seen recently, (or here's the hard one) - ever?

Tony.

Smile Smile

My worst movie seen recently -"Daemer" (I think it was called!) about a homosexual murderer. One of the worst ever (I felt cheated paying to rent the video) "Blair Witch Project" (even worse than the Blair promises on Health and Crime).

One of the best seen recently "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson - also brilliant "BILLY ELLIOTT" (whether it would be passed in some USA States I doubt!) Best ever? Well don't know if it is the best but it was hard to get to sleep the night of seeing "Starwars" (original) - but there again I seem to remember 'other things' that kept me awake that night too!!

The worst movies I saw last year were Men In Black 2, and Austin Powers in Goldmember. I know many people liked these movies, but I didn't! Smile

I think the worst movie I ever saw was either any "Disney Channel Original Movie" that my little sister loves and that they play on the channel way too often. I also completely hated Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, or XXX.

I really liked The Matrix, The two LOTR movies so far, and Meet the Parents.

Plan X from outer space starring Bella Lugosi. Mr Lugosi died while making this movie and his brother-in-law put a cape over his eyes to finish the movie (what a bomb).

The "Cassandra Crossing" the 2nd biggest bomb. Avoid this movie like the plague.

vinny

OH you wanted the best......
Picnic starring William Holden and Kim
Novack.
next Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Birgman.
Zorba The Greek starring Anthony Quinn

Favourite movie moments in some of my favourite movies:

The pant ripping, shin kicking frenzy at the end of Stan and Ollie's 'You're darn tooting'.

The slide down the rope to rescue Esmerelda in 'The hunchback of Noter Dame', starring the great Charles Laughton.

Swimming in seaweed scene in 'Gattaca'.

The beautiful floating litter video in 'American Beauty'.

The very last scene in 'Billy Elliott' when an adult Billy explodes onto stage, and his father is overwhelmed with pride and disbelief.

Aceparties, as, I assume, a fellow Brit, let me gently suggest that you don't take Hollywood's portrayal of us too seriously. It's not, necessarily, historically accurate. Sure, our nation has done some pretty crumby things. I'd argue we're about to do some more. But I'd be inclined to learn this through more reliable sources than Mel Gibson. What with 'Braveheart', and 'The Patriot', it seems, to me at least, that he has ISSUES when it comes to these little islands of ours.

Regards,

Caleb Strange.

well the worst was this cheap, low budget horror film I bought because it was about a killer magician called the wizard of gore. Some movies are so bad they're good. this movie was so bad it was good and then bad again. It was torture to sit through. There wasn't even one cool looking set. I hated it. And the worse part was it didn't inspire me the slightest bit.

The best movie is harder to say. Possibly the crow.

As for a funny movie that isn't nearly the best...

Magicians

As a magician, I found much of this movie relivent. Its about this guy that wants to become a magician so he asks this con man to join him and then this other guy becomes there manager and they head off to Vagas and learn the act while they go. funny stuff, but not a great movie. I recomend it more because we're all magicians.

I think that can be said for all of Ed Woods movies; Glenn or Glenda is another Wood bomb that comes to mind.

Worst: Battlefield Earth

Best: Late for Dinner, Happy Accidents,Full Metal Jacket and Heavenly Creatures

Just plain strange: Pet Shop Boys: It Couldn't Happen Here or Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles
A direct from text adaptation : The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde Starring Mickey Rooney in his final role.

Hey Margarette, since you like sci-fi, what did you think of "Destionation Moon", and "When Worlds Collide" two sci-fi films of the 50s., or for that matter "war of the worlds". I thaught these were also great movies and were way ahead of their time,,,,

I love Ed Wood's movies, especially Plan 9 From Outer Space. They're terrible but HILARIOUS. Tim Burton's "Ed Wood", based on his life, is one of my favorite movies. My favorite movie though is "Pulp Fiction". I want one fo those "Bad M*****F*****" wallets Samuel L. Jackson has for my card-to-wallet routines. Smile

Worst: Dude, where's my car?, Those scream! takeoffs (cant remember the name).

Best: Tough call. Fight Club, Austin Powers 1 (2 and 3 got worse and worse. It had far less toilet humour and more humour that was just strange), Monty Python (anything), muppets (anything), Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, LOTR, Matrix, Mid Summer Nights Dream (one particular version), Saving Private Ryan...etc etc
The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. Whoever does not know it and can no longer wonder, no longer marvel, is as good as dead, and his eyes are

Worst: "Gummo". A Harmony Korine film. I've
met this guy and his movies are a reflection
of his being.

Best? I cannot easily decide this, not like
the worst. Recently the best I've seen that
was also new to me when I saw it, was The
Two Towers.

Just come to Caleb Strange's posting on my original comment after "The Patriot" on "what cruel people us English were". Of course this was meant in jest. Britain and the USA have this unique ability to laugh at each other without being offended. I am not offended at so many "baddie" roles being English. Americans are not offended at the way we have laughed at their lifestyle and neurosis for years. Caleb does mention though that we are about to do something "crumby". Although not specifically mentioned if this does refer to Iraq, I would just want to say that the freedom of speech we take for granted even on this board of friends would not be possible to our magical colleagues (if there are any) under Saddam Hussein. Now let's get back to the movies . . . ! Smile Smile

Best...the movie that got me totally interested in movie magic...and then live magic....King Kong (1933) It just has a MAGIC and timeless look to it. I'm honered to have actually seen and touched the armature of the Kong (there were more than one) that shook the guys off the log!!

The Worst...same title "King Kong" but 1976!! Rick Baker in a gorilla suit even hated doing it!! Voted the "Biggest Rip-off in History" I'd rather see any Ed Wood movie!
