The fewer batteries the better. If batteries are a must, easy access is a plus! You stated that batteries should last about 20 shows. Translated into an approximate hourly battery life, would that mean about 20 hours?

Would there be a battery indicator. To let you know when the battery is dieing? I don't know if I like the disc battries but they don't take up any space.

Hey I would also like the unit to auto pause after the track if possible.

I cant wait till this is on the market. I would love a backup. You guys are the best.
So the Ipod wont be charging off the system. I guess you just need it fully charged before the show. That sounds easy enough. I also noticed that you said the system would shut down after 20 minutes unused to save battery power. My silly question is: When you push the play button will it cut everything back on? Sometimes in my events I have to be set up and ready 20 minutes before the event starts and then it can still be another 30 minutes before I start my show. If it is asleep will it come back on with the push of the remote? Thanks Dave |

The way my songs are recorded, and becuase I use blank tracks, I would not need the auto pause. Is this going to be a problem for me? I do not want to have to re-record all of my music. The blank tracks eliminate the player from 'sleeping' also.

I would think that most people would not need it to be paused as long as me. So I would definately keep it to the 20 minutes or so and keep the AAA batteries. I am just kindof a wierd one among them all.
I like the smaller size thing really. I could work around the shut-off thing. Keep the AAA idea. D |

Reagan,
I would assume that you wouldn't need the blank tracks anymore, as the icue keeps the ipod from sleeping anyway. |

The blank tracks can be removed on my minidisk without any problems, however I am still not sure this will work for me. What triggers the auto pause? If I remember correctly, I am thinking you need a few seconds of silence at the end of the song to trigger the pause. Is this correct, or no? Regan

Can you make the system where you can plug it into a power cord. If so could you make it where it wont go to sleep using household power, only go to sleep in battery mode?

David,
I don't think we will sell it with a power adapter. The reason for this is that we are full up to the rafters with power supplies for the various countries, for the iCue systems already, and the adapter plugs that go with them. It is driving the shipping dept. nuts from what I hear. Besides when we put in these batteries the base unit will be tuned down to sip power, and you may not have to change the batteries but once a year. We are not kidding about that. We even went wit a brand new Micro controller that uses a lower power rating to boot, These are also going into the latest iCue2 now)... DOn't forget that we will not be powering that huge LED display anymore. That thing takes almost all of the power. We are talking about 15-20 mAh consumption upon receiving a signal and 4-8 mAh when in idle. Compare that to 300-600 mAhs for the iCue @ 9 volts minimum. If we use a pair of AA batteries you can extrapolate a total of 260 hours of life while continuing to press a button, or 5600 button presses one right after another. Or from our formula, of using it 3 times a week 1.5 hours each outing, every week for 14 months, or about 350 presentations. Glad to be of service, CSM Tech , Al. |

Ok I guess I am not thru with the questions just yet. Can you guys make them with just the ipod cable and not two cables? That second cable gets in the way just a bit. Thought I would just ask

I am referring to the old VSM system anyway, because that was the one I inquired about. It may be much doifferent now. If it wokrs like you say, and recognizes the end of a track and pauses, that would be fine. One more question: If I were to play a track, the track ended, and my Sony minidisc player went into auto-pause mode, how long will it stay up and ready before it shuts down (or goes into 'sleep' mode)? What happened to Kelly's banner ad? Where's AL? What's going on? Has the Café become Big Brother, deleting people's discussions and ideas?
It's sad when an ADVERTISER cannot ask market research questions openly on a board they're helping support. |

Yes, "they" took it all off. Even the entire other thread (of course, it really didn't make sense without the originator's posts, did it?) has been "vanished". Good buncha guys...reminds me of the old MagicTalk days.
Oh, and Al has been banned. Steve |
