I wonder what version is this. Is it called Triple Fantasia as the title says? Is it out on the market? Thanks a bunch in advance. Edsel,

Similar to the Tamariz trick 4 blue cards if I remember correctly. Just some buckle counts. He does it very nicely, I like how he is watching the screen with the audience, very interesting way to stand and present the trick.
Later, Eric P.S. Uses regular cards. |

Lot of magic in that packet of four cards.
Had he dropped the cards to the floor single at the end I would have been much more impressed. Anyone know the provenance of that routine?

Jonathan,
With a normal size deck of cards the dropping is easy, this is a great version of a classic. It looks like he took couple of things on the market and combined them. One would be a the twisting at the beginning looks a lot like ashers twist and the other kind of looks like dingles twisting routine with out the move. I am obsessed with twisting effects and must say this is a great routine that has a lot of potential! With all that said, of course I am not sure of the exact method, but if this is ever up for sale count me in! |

As far as I'm aware....(and I could be very very wrong) there are no "moves" involved in this card routine - just really clever set ups.

Without taking this to secret sessions... I was REALLY hoping that at the last he would have use a t**it to switch the cards and toss them out at the end.
As to method... yea I'd go with the simplest approach (non-sleight) and clean up later.

I have no idea as to why he'd choose to use sleights when he's up on a stage and have something that magical without involving any sleights either. He can really really focus on everything else.
As for the idea of clean-up, totally agree. he had plenty of time since he had his backs towards the audience, and it'd add so much more to the magical atmosphere. |

Louis De Matos changed nothing on George Sands' 'Super Optical Illusion' published in December 1946 issue of Hugard Magic Monthly' except turning his back to the audience.
Based on this Sands trick, Louis Tannen marketted 'Gamble Amble' in 60's. No gaff are used. Hideo Kato P.S. Using bigger cards than usual is a very good idea to do the sleights for this trick. But I felt the last part must be speeded up. |

Oh?
I thought a small break before the final transformation to the queens was sorely missed. It could have made the performance a little better. Just differences in opinions though I think. |

I agree it is possible that inserting a little break before changing the cards to Kings can make the climax stronger. I meant speeding up after he started chaniging the cards to Kings.

WOW! This was very well done. Not sure how he did it and for me that's part of the beauty of it all.
And hey Kato, I actually had Tannen's "Gamble Amble." Wonderful old trick with a great patter. I went in the new Tannens, now on 34st in Manhattan a year ago and asked about this old trick. They looked it up and I guess thought it could be new again, and when I came back they were selling the packet again. Might still have some for all I know. Nice trick. -MB

I remember a trick that was released a long time ago, well not that long, but atleast a decade now, it was called 'Colour changing cards'. In effect, four blue backed Aces turnd face down, the back face up, but when the backs were shown, they were all different colours (Red, Green, Yellow, Orange), then the cards turned back to blue, but when they were turned over, they were Kings. It looked EXACTLY like this, and works exactly like this (I used to own the trick, got it somwhere!).

Kato,
Oh OK...I see, but the presentation looks a lot better than what I remember of Gamble Amble. Methods are probably the same as you say, when I think about it deeper, but it looks different in the way the guy presented it. So yeah, I guess I do know how it's done, but it's fun to see something re-presented that looks like something else. -MB

This reminds me of a Tom Mullica trick that was published years ago. The names escapes me, but pretty much, it is similar to this and the method used 13 buckle counts. Cheers,

Anyway the trick is George Sands' 'Super Optical Illusion' published in December 1946 issue of Hugard Magic Monthly' as I mentioned. Versions mentioned here seem presentational variations. Luis De Matos used the original one adding turning back to audience.
