I suppose I should have checked this out with the forum BEFORE I went to Pigeon Forge with the expectation of seeing what THEY call:
The largest exhibition of action-packed Illusions in the world... I was expecting to see video clips of famous acts, museum sets of various illusions by famous magicians and so forth. What I found was very very disappointing. They had a couple of interesting illusions at the very beginning of the tour, like a genie in a bottle where you could be the genie, well that is about it I guess. There were children's magic toys that had been cut open and showed how gimmicks worked...thankfully they were only items from a kids magic set and not anything really "secret". Basically it is just a carnival quality mirrors and lights show using mannequins. And it is a very short display, on top of which about 1/4 of the interactive displays did not work, all of which used the same principle over and over. My children were disappointed and I was sorry I spent any money on it at all. So for a review...just skip it.

Was this the place right on the Gatlinburg parkway? Gatlinburg is almost my second home and I think I've walked past that place about a million times. I've gone in twice and this was before they really jacked up the price. I remember being impressed when I was young, but yes, it's a collection of automated stuff using manequins and none of it is particularly convincing. The coolest part is the airplane on the outside of the building, and that's free. It's your standard Gatlinburg parkway attraction- It's built up huge on the outside, it's usually run by only one employee, and when you are inevitably disappointed having spent real money here, you find that they operate on the carny system of no refunds. As bad as this place is, I would gladly pay for it a million more times before I ever sent anyone to the "Earthquake- the ride" thing on the strip. It's got to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. You sit in a moving car-tram-type-thing and you are supposed to experince what it's like to be there when a major earthquake hits. Every part of it was just plain stupid, from the bad sound effects, to the gorilla ready to escape, to the redneck ride operator who sits on his stool and smokes a cigarette (while generally hating his life) throughout the whole thing.
I second the advice here, skip them both! Phil |

Freefallillusion1, you are so right. The Earthquake ride is the absolute worse thing I have ever spent money on. I laugh everytime I walk by and see people lined up to ride it.
