Let me preface this by saying that I'm afraid that I already know the answer to this question (a resounding NO). However, you just never know.
I was watching the DC 15 year special (Illusion DVD) for the umpteenth time and am really fascinated with the appearance he makes on the building demolition effect. I'd like to incorporate the appearance into my act, but don't know if it's even available or if DC has a lifetime license on the effect. This is where a cloth is seen resting on top of a square steel surface (about two inches thick). The steel plate is resting on what appears to be sawhorses. The cloth mysteriously begins to rise from off of the surface and begins to take form until the performer tosses the cloth aside and makes his appearance. My first assumption (and incorrect, I might add) was that this was an advanced type of d------ base (possibly hidden by the camera angle) - but then they showed the base from other angles and shot that theory to pieces. My other theory is that this is a retooled form of a m----- table. But I'm not even sure if that would work either. I don't know if DC utilized this appearance at a live stage show. If it is not possible to perform live, then I guess it really doesn't matter, does it? In any case, my gut tells me that DC has the exclusive license on this, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know if this effect has a name and is available? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Alfred |

This was done as a studio video tape segment, and it was not a real time illusion. Meaning, forget about staging for a live audience.
It was a made for TV illusion for a closed set. But it did turn into DC's "One" illusion, which was inspired By A. Kole and seen on the last TV special. Again, it's a Mega illusion. DC does include it on his proprietary list as Steel Plate reappearance and The One illusion as well. Ryan has the closest illusion to that available call Mystique..@ http://www.illusionentertainment.com/# Zigmont

Thanks for the reply, Zigmont. I was afraid that might be the case.

Gotta correct you on our effect. Legally we need to be clear about this: Mystique is in no way a resemblance or similar to “ONE” in any way shape or form. If you are looking for that effect, I’d contact Andre Kole or Copperfield International. Mystique is a backward metamorphosis, Platform. Both are completely different effects, methods and illusions. It's not “One” nor is it similar in effect or method nor performance, fabrication style or anything therein.
We recently pulled this effect from our line as the rights are no longer avalable as they'd been purchased by a client of IEI. Thank you. IEI |
